- Deadline Music/Cleopatra has released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET regarding the reports that "Frequency Unknown", the new album from the Geoff Tate-fronted version of QUEENSRŸCHE, was being remixed by acclaimed musician, record producer and engineer Billy Sherwood:
"Since previews of the new QUEENSRŸCHE album were made available to the general public on iTunes and other digital retailers, some of the response has been less than positive. Some complained about the overall quality of the recordings, and in particular the mix. We here at Deadline Music have the utmost confidence in the powerful songwriting and outstanding performances from Geoff Tate and crew on this album, but we also want the fans to know that we are listening to them as well! So, in the interest of democratic free choice, Deadline Music has commissioned the superbly talented musician/producer Billy Sherwood (formerly of YES) to remix the album. Now fans will be able to decide which mix they feel best represents the album: the original mix, which will be released on April 23rd, or the new mix by Billy Sherwood that will be made available at a future date to be announced…. WE REMIX, YOU DECIDE!"
How gracious is that of Deadline to allow us the privledge to buy 2 versions of the album and then decide which is better!! AWESOME!!
Jeebus, no wonder people illegally download. It's like the record companies are doing everything in their power to self-destruct. This whole remixing thing brings to mind a saying about turds and the polishing of them.

| Yeah, that's a clusterf*ck of the highest order.
What that really means is...
"We already sent these to the pressing plant and cannot afford to throw them away, so we will be releasing them as is. Once we see how many copies actually sell we can decide how many of the remixes need to be pressed. Since most of you will be listening to this new album on your laptop speakers or ear buds we hope you won't notice how horrific it really sounds"

| If they really had any balls, they'd offer to buy back whichever version fans didn't want. You know, after they get to choose between the 2 albums. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. If only Cleopatra had the money to afford that. From what I understand they're a pretty low-quality operation. | |

At the very least, they might consider putting a coupon in the "original mix" CD that entitles the buyer to a free copy of the remixed version whenever it becomes available.... ...and by the way, as is customary by now, I have updated my Hubpage blog entry on the Tale of Two Queensryches with this latest snippet of news: http://fatfreddyscat.hubpages.com/hub/Meet-QUEENSRYCHE-Both-of-Them _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I actually like that there letting people choose from both mixes, i'm actually interested to hear what Geoff came up with. I sure wish Metallica had done something like that and made both mixes of Death Magnetic availible(the only legal way to get the original mix of the album is downloading them through the Guitar Hero games) | |

| They actually should just do what Nevermore did a few years back when they released Enemies Of Reality. That album sounded horrible, very unfinished compared to the usual albums. They went and remixed it and sent out remixed versions to people who signed up for it. I forget what actually happened but I got mine _________________ | |

I'll admit that I had already kinda planned on buying both "Queensryche" albums mainly due to the "what the f*ck" curiosity factor, and also because at some point one side or the other is going to lose the right to use the Queensryche name in court which will make that version's CD a collectible. But I'll be damned if I'm gonna buy two copies of the same album just to compare the freakin' mixes!! _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

I think I would rather take my $13.99 and shove it up my own ass. I'd get more satisfaction that way.

In Gray's defense, I think all that Nevermore stuff was a bit unfair and he was somewhat of a scapegoat. The album, while definitely having a different sound from previous Nevermore albums, doesn't sound bad. I think it works really well with their style, to be honest.

As for F.U., I'm not really interested in that in the least so I don't have to fret over which version to get.

I am sure you are correct! I agree with SD - I think Cleopatra ordered the remix the figured out that the CD's had already been pressed..... After Tate's actions and how much the song writing sucks, I can't bring myself to buy any copy of FU.

I haven't seen any used copies of Kings around here. This is typical when an album doesn't sell. It's why I don't have the last QR album.
