Okay, got that download...and Todd doesn't sound all that hot at times. Maybe he's still working out the songs or something, I don't know. At times, he's spot on. However, other times he sounds pretty bad. Cringe-worthy bad.
Might be wise if he stops trying to emulate Tate and just do his own thing.

You can hear him struggling on those videos...2 years and he's toast if he keeps that up.
There are some really rough spots, like on "Child of Fire."
I've seen live clips of him with Crimson Glory and he sounds fantastic. But despite Geoff losing a few steps in the vocal department over the years, he's still a powerhouse. Hopefully Todd can pull it together.
Ehh, cut the dude some slack. It was his first performance (the previous Rising West gigs nonwithstanding) as the new voice of QR in front of what I'm assuming was a decent sized crowd.
He was probably nervous as hell knowing that his performance was going to be put on-line to be critiqued by a bunch of fan-boys that couldn't carry those same notes in a paper bag.

Damn. Who's reacting like a fanboy?

Is that not cutting him some slack? I'm not trashing the guy. Jeez.

Nobody's trashing the dude. But he did kinda shoot off his mouth a bit beforehand, telling everyone to prepare for how awesome it was going to be.
Kudos to him for even attempting it...and for the most part he sounded fine. But, as a singer I hear things in his performance that are harbingers of (bad) things to come for him if he doesn't pace himself.
I wasn't pointing out you specifically, Eyesore. I was talking in general about all of us. We'll nit-pick everything to the nth degree because we can. It's what the internet is for, right? I mean, aside from the pornography.
If the guy can pull it together with the rest of the band in the studio and put out a decent Queensryche album, I'll be happy. Whether the guy sounds good or bad live is pretty irrrelevent to me personally, as I probably won't be seeing them (or anyone) anytime soon.

Well this wasn't planned for me it was kinda spur of the moment. A friend posted on FB that he had an extra ticket to Queensryche so I told him I'll go. So the show was last sat evening at Halfway Jam in Royalton, MN just had to pay for gas.
Well for me it was the 1st time seeing all 3 bands. Lynch Mob was actually quite good and Brian Tichey is a killer drummer, Oni Logan on vocals and George on guitars was pretty good.
Stryper was next and I was impressed it was the original lineup and they did a few covers and alot of early material.
Everyone was there to see Queesnryche with Todd La Torre on vocals. Well I'm telling ya he didn't miss a beat vocally. I don't think Geoff Tate could have even pulled off the old Queensryche material..
They played material from the 1st 5 albums and it was amazing. Scott Rockenfields drumming amazing, to bad Chris Degarmo wasn't there. If you get a chance to see the new Queensryche do so they were awesome!

He missed some beats. Quite a few. I imagine the vibe was excellent, though, so those vocal flubs were easily overlooked. The band did appear to be having a great time.
And honestly, there are a ton of excellent vocalists out there that simply can't nail it in a live setting. Being perfect is for the studio, I think. Being entertaining is for the stage.

Very interesting read, I am tired of the whole thing, if this version of Queensryche releases a strong album then I will support it, but I cannot imagine the band without Geoff Tate.

I think Tate is making a money grab - plain and simple. I read the corporation docs and his continued use of the name goes against the agreement. He is basically cashing in until he is told to stop and is bought out.

Has La Torre's demos been posted before?
Some quality stuff here. Already I'd say he's a better songwriter than Tate.

I'd say that's crazy. He's clearly worse. The new CG song is perhaps their most boring yet and it's not because of the music.

Those sound really good. But a better songwriter ? I'm not sure I'd go that far....at least not yet. Time will tell.

New CG song was boring as hell. Just terrible, I was very disappointed. But his demos sounds like some lost prog-power tape from early 90-s, which instantly becomes awesome in my book.

He does seem to have quite the overinflated opinion of himself that's for sure. I believe he thinks he's being witty and charming, but unfornately he's wrong.
