Got the Samuel Adams Variety Pack case for my birthday from the wife. I've tried each type and think their all pretty good,the Summer Ale being the best.

Me too. The summer ale is really good. I've tried to stay away from SA the last few years after drinking a lot in the past, but this was a good surprise.

I normally stay away from SA but i had some Summer ale at a work event and was actually pretty impressed. It is flavorful but light.

On the downside, I was disappointed in SA's attempt at a Belgian. It wasn't horrible but being a fan of Belgians, I found this one weak.

I'm not a huge beer connoisseur, but I do love some good old Yuengling and Sam Adams!
They're both fairly priced and are the best tasting beers I've ever had. I hate IPAs unfortunately. I wish I was huge into beer. All of my friends who are beer lovers find them to be the most delicious things on the planet. I just can't stand the strong hoppy flavor of an IPA

You're preachin' to the choir here my man!  I HATE IPAs!  Try a Belgian. New Belgium's Abbey Ale should be readily available and might be a good place to start.

The local beer snob joint is celebrating Belgium's independence day Sunday by having a Belgian Day where they'll have a bunch of Belgians on tap and serve the beer in various Belgian Beer glasses that you can keep. One of the glasses they'll have is La Fin Du Monde. I'm going go get one of those and a Grand Carolous glass (my favorite Belgian).

Beardstown, IL? Dude, that's practically in my neighborhood.....it's less than an hour from my house...we're gonna have to get together at some point if you're gonna be passing though here on a regular basis.

Well I didn't go. I was oncall backup last week and Saturday night the primary oncall didn't answer his page so I had to deal with it.  That left me too tired to bother Sunday.

EDIT: My friend at work who went got me a Unibroue glass. Unlike the images of La Fin Du Monde glasses I looked up on the internet, this is NOT the picture from the bottle label; instead it's a boring Unibroue logo so you/I didn't really miss anything.

It's a very boozy ale. !0% ABV and the "aged in oak barrels" gives it a "bourbon-y" finish. Definitely a sipper. But it opened my taste buds to what a beer could be.

Trying this for the first time (though I got it about a month ago):



Beer Advocate is not very nice to it, but I really like it (so screw them ). Has a sweet bready flavor not unlike a weaker Maudite, though the sweetness is apparently due to honey and it is not a Belgian (though it is an amber ale).

Picked up the Samuel Adams Harvest Variety Pack. This is my second favorite of the Sam's seasonal variety packs after the Winter Variety Pack. This one has a hazelnut lager and a pumpkin ale in it. Also has 2 crappy IPAs but I drink those anyway to cleanse the palate.

Only in this variety pack.  Schlafly's should be out in a couple weeks.  Let's hope this year's pumpkins are better than last year's.

EDIT: I just checked their site. Supposedly Schlafly's Pumpkin Ale is in stores August 6.

Well, neither of the main grocery stores here had it yet but when I got home I called my favorite beer store and they do! And fortunately that place is right on my way home from work. Pumpkin ale with dinner tomorrow!

Finally got to try this:



A friend was in the UK recent and brought back a bottle.... which a bunch of us were able to sample before the Sabbath show. Excellent brew!!!!!! Loved it - Bruce and the boys didn't let us down. Surprisingly lots of taste to it for its alcohol content (4.5 I think) Can't wait until it hits the shelves in the US (end of this month I believe!) I will be picking up a case!
