I drink one of those regularly. Unibroue's "Trois Pistoles". This brewery has the coolest labels.

Man, i'm trying to cut some lbs and beer is an easy calorie cut.

Tell me about it. If I cut beer from my diet I'd probably weigh about 20 pounds less than I do. But I finally decided, screw it!; who am I trying to impress anymore at my age?

Yeah, ha. It won't last but with the holiday season I decided to cut back.

Had a Widmer Drop Top Amber at lunch. A very nice amber.

Widmer seems to be pretty easily obtained here but I don't think I've ever tried one of their beers. I know I see their product line at my favorite beer store all the time.

It's pretty good, one of the first craft beers in the NW.

Trying out a new beer:



Hard to see the label but it's called Tommyknocker Maple Nut Brown. I used to drink Dundee Honey Brown but they changed the formula and I didn't like it. Saw this at a liquor store and they were having a 75% off sale so I decided to give it a try. I really like it, even better than the old Honey Brown. Not overly bitter with a pleasant aftertaste.

Hitting my stash of Schlafly's Old Ale again tonight.

Two weekends ago I went on a "Scavenger Hunt" to various Schnuck's stores in the area looking for it. This is a collaboration between a downtown St. Louis Schnucks and the brewery and it only gets distributed to select Schnucks stores. I managed to score just short of 4 cases and I've since sold 6 to my beer snob buddy at work.

This stuff is great and it was kinda fun rounding it up; walking into various grocery stores, hitting their liquor section and hearing "the Celestial Choir" when I found a store that actually had it.

Ringing in 2013 with a 22 oz. bottle of Double Bastard Ale from Stone Brewing.



... this is the "big brother" of their famed Arrogant Bastard Ale, this stuff is 11.2% and DAAAAAAAAAMN the first sip was so hoppy that it damn near took my head off. After a couple of swigs, though, I'm getting used to it (either that or my taste buds have been burnt off, hahaha).... this is definitely a "sipper," not something to gulp. I'm already feelin' it and I have half the bottle to go yet.

Yep, if you are a fan of hoppy beers that one is a winner.

Personally, I'll stick with my Southern Tier Choklat this evening

had some Brooklyn lager last night and it was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to strong for my taste. The aftertate came and hit like a ton of bricks. This is not something I will get again.

I'm taking tomorrow off so I'm starting off tonight with Southern Tiers Oat Imperial Stout:
