Beer!

I was helping a family friend pack up her house in preparation for a move to Missouri today. My brother in law and I, being the two youngest dudes there, were doing the bulk of the heavy lifting work -- lucky us, cuz of course it was futher mucking HOT out there today.

Anyway, at lunch time someone handed me a Bud Light. Normally when presented with anything from the Bud family or Light beer in general, I would go "Good Lord, are you kidding? Why don't you just spit in my mouth?" but it was free, and by that time I'd been loading boxes and furniture onto a truck in 90 degree heat for about four hours and y'know what? Under those circumstances ANY beer -- even Bud Light - tastes like sweet ambrosia.

Just wait until tomorrow night.
I've been oncall this past week and had to reign in my beer intake because lately all hell has been breaking loose in production. Tomorrow night I make up for it. I already warned everyone I may need a "personal day" Tuesday.

Being in the rental car business, the July 4th holiday marks the ramping up of our summer vacation business. Which means any previously released defects that may have flown under the radar all winter now make themselves very well known.

I was delirious with near-heat stroke, I wasn't about to be picky...

I would've passed and gone for water. Light beer causes my gag reflex to go active.

Tonight it's the cream of the crop of Belgian Dark Ales IMO.

Gouden Carolus - A BDA that weighs in with %11 ABV but tastes absolutely great. My post-oncall reward to myself.

So the Thor's Equinox was a solid meh. Not one i'd buy again as it was a little too carbonated for my tastes.

If you can find Gouden Carolus, I highly recommend it. This is the epitome of Belgian Dark Ales IMO.

So far I've only found one place around here that has it and every time I go there I stock up on it. Simply a delicious Belgian Ale.

I'm a bubbles guy. I like my pales, ambers, IPA's, and cheaper lights bubbly. But...not so on a OS, Porter and heavy darks.

I partook in two great beers on Sunday night, when I went back home to Indy. I first met a friend over at Oak and Barrel in Greenwood. I had a very nice tasty dark, dark, dark beer called Snake Pit. It was a damn smooth beer...

I then went over to my brothers, and brought over two Hopsickle Imperial Ale's that he got me into a couple years ago. 9.2% of tasty fun, which ends up knocking you on your ass if you're not careful.

Currently enjoying one of New Belgium's "Lips of Faith" series, their Grand Cru Abbey Ale.

As a side note, if you see New Belgium's Abbey Ale, it's quite good for a widely available beer.

Wife surprised me Tuesday night with a pack of Sam Adams-Boston lagger for our 19th anniversary! Nice and carbonated!

Yeah, I still like ol' Sam Adams Boston Lager.
