MF's "9" and "Dead Again" did nothin' for me personally. When the Shermann/Denner guitar team broke up and MF brought in Mike Wead, it sounded more like King Diamond's solo band than MF. There's just somethin' about the Shermann/Denner guitar sound that makes that band IMO.

I wouldn't say I'm a death metal hater per se. I dig some quality death metal like Atheist, Nocturnus, early Entombed and Dismember, Amorphis, Death (from Human onward), early Morbid Angel, etc. I just dont like blast-beaten guttural stuff made just for the sake of it... It is a personal preference I guess.

Regarding Mercyful Fate, I definitely would have chosen "In the Shadows" instead of 9
