Agree with the "joke" trend here. Armored Saint's first Metal Blade album was Symbol Of Salvation...which may end up on the list later. Before that, they were on Chrysalis. Their 3-song debut EP was also on Metal Blade, but I'm probably just being nit-picky. I would imagine SYMBOL OF SALVATION will rank in the top 10 of this list somewhere... Brian Slagel has said in the past that it's his favorite MB release. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Yeah, the were on MFN, but that might also have been a reissue. I don't remember now. _________________ | |

They were on a MFN compilation for sure at the same time the Combat stuff was released. Welcome To The Metal Zone (1985) I can't remember if I ever saw a MFN copy of either Sirens or Dungeons back then ? _________________

So Metal Blade in conjunction with BraveWords.com is posting what they consider to be the Top 30 Metal Blade releases of all time.
So far, they've listed #30 through #13 (seen above).
What I find odd is that they are over halfway through this list and there are only TWO releases from the 1980's.
Now, I'm not saying there are not some good albums on that list. I also realize that 2 of Metal Blade's 3 decade existence were not in the 1980's (Fates Warning and Cirith Ungol).
I'm just saying that if you're looking at the entire 30-year history of Metal Blade records, a label that was pivotal in the furthering of Heavy Metal in America in the 1980's, you're gonna tell me that 85% (so far) of the label's absolute best output came after 1990? I dont see a problem, but I think Frail Words Collapse was more a heavy impact on the style of metalcore, rather than a great album. Certainly not one of the best to come out of metalblade.

| Metal Blade did the list, correct?
They don't want to advertise that the majority of their greatest albums were recorded in the first 5 years of their existence...because that kind of makes them look bad if you compare those first 5 years to the following 25.

Why would you say that? I haven't followed Slayer after Seasons in the Abyss, that is true, but all albums up to SitA (included) are undisputed thrash classics and I enjoy em now and again. Now Vader and Slayer I can live without, thank you very much I'm just trying to predict what would be on the list. although I have to admit MB surprised me today with the pick: #6) MERCYFUL FATE – 9 (1999)

then i guess you mean Vader & Cannibal Corpse in that last sentence, right? so you're just a death metal hater then? that's cool, but there is some really good stuff you're missing. for the record, every Slayer album is a thrash classic imo. i agree Mercyful Fate's 9 is a great album. their best since Into the Unknown & a great album to end things. _________________
