So Metal Blade in conjunction with BraveWords.com is posting what they consider to be the Top 30 Metal Blade releases of all time.
So far, they've listed #30 through #13 (seen above).
What I find odd is that they are over halfway through this list and there are only TWO releases from the 1980's.
Now, I'm not saying there are not some good albums on that list. I also realize that 2 of Metal Blade's 3 decade existence were not in the 1980's (Fates Warning and Cirith Ungol).
I'm just saying that if you're looking at the entire 30-year history of Metal Blade records, a label that was pivotal in the furthering of Heavy Metal in America in the 1980's, you're gonna tell me that 85% (so far) of the label's absolute best output came after 1990?

Well, like I said, there are some good albums on the list...and maybe #12 - #1 will have more of the grounbreaking 80's albums listed...but the lack of 80's representation on an "all time" list thus far is kinda surprising.

| Awaken the Guardian is my favorite album in the list so far. Let's hope that Sacrifice's Soldiers of Misfortune makes the cut as well (if AI can make it, I don't see why the far-superior SoM can't). | |

I doubt they double-up on bands...

| IF and I mean IF they include any comps, the first one will more than likely get the nod.
The entire series of Metal Massacre comps are pretty darn good and give a listner a good bang for the buck. _________________

| To choose Black Like Sunday from King's X? That's the one album almost all fans will agree to be their weakest. Of the Metal Blade era, Tape Head is WAY better... _________________ FINAL SIGN

| I only own the Lethal and GWAR albums from this list thus far... and quite frankly, I'd have picked GWAR's AMERICA MUST BE DESTROYED over SCUMDOGS by a mile. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

I think these are good albums. Fates Warning and Cirith Ungol, OK. I'll give you Lethal since they've not released a lot else...but "ALL TIME" among these bands? _________________ FINAL SIGN

| I agree that King's X, Cannibal Corpse, and King Diamond are all good albums, but hell, those are not even their best in their discography, I know King's X was on Atlantic Records for the majority of their career, but haven't King Diamond and Cannibal Corpse always been on Metal Blade? | |

| The only one I have on that list so far is Lethal's Programmed. I had the Brainstorm and Organization albums at one time, but nomore, so that should give you some indication about what I think of this list. Meh. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

I think King Diamond used to be on Roadrunner. But yeah, King's X & Cannibal Corpse have better album in their MB catalog...

Yeah, KD and Mercyful Fate were originally Roadrunner bands... it wasn't till MF reunited in the early 90s that both projects moved over to Metal Blade. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Is this the list of Top 30 albums of artists signed on Metal Blade? I've heard only 3 of these (Lethal, Fates and King), but choosing "The Puppet Master" as the best KD is nonsense. | |

Black Like Sunday is the only King's X album I never listen to. It was originally supposed to be a mail-order-only independent release and it should have stayed that way. Manic Moonlight is my favorite MB album...and one of my favorite King's X records overall, I'd vote for that one. |

you're kidding, right? Nah, really. I like SCUMDOGS too but AMBD is my fave, probably cuz it was the first GWAR I owned. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Isn't "Black Like Sunday" mostly just re-recorded songs from their early days? That material is not prime Kings X... (even in the Metal Blade era)
