The ones that just barely pass for metal but come close to being adult contemporary or soft rock?

I'm thinking legendary classic hard rock bands like Bon Jovi, Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heep, Scorpions... that were also heavy metal. Maybe Scorpions' Crazy World? Wind of Change, Send Me an Angel...

For me, the first one that comes to mind is Turbo. A close second would be Lita.

Have to disagree. While it does have light stuff like Cry Tough and I Wont Forget You, it also has songs like Play Dirty, Blame It On You, and the title track, which are pretty hard rocking.

You and I have very different definitions of 'hard rocking'!!
Don't get me wrong, it's the only Poison record with any charm whatsoever, but most of it is pure bubblegum pop with raucous guitars.

People here are calling Bon Jovi albums metal? That is just criminal.

Bon Jovi and Kiss are considered Hard Rock. Def Leppard gave up metal after the first two albums, maybe the third... Poison isn't metal either.

It's been a long time since I listened to this one, but I wouldn't have thought it qualifies.

Agreed. Balance is easily the darkest/heaviest album Van Hagar did.

There's this thing called glam metal. Huge pop melodies, hot lead singers and platinum albums. Good times.

Most of the bands under that title didn't really have what I consider a metal sound. Early Ratt, Motley Crue and LA Guns did, but Poison leaned more in the Bon Jovi / Cinderella hard rock territory to me. They definitely had the glam part down though.

Alice Cooper Goes to Hell.
It's an absolute favorite of mine, but I think someone who only knew him from the original group or the later, more decibel-heavy, stuff would be shocked.

Poison's Native Tongue. While there are plenty of rockers, its more of a subdued, bluesier style. Its a great album, but dont expect any tunes along the lines of Talk Dirty to Me or Nothin But a Good Time.

Disagree on White Lion, their debut album Fight To Survive was a fair bit heavier then anything that followed it.
