| I feel like a noob - heard like only 3 albums on the list. Well, at least they mentioned Lethal. - Shawn Of Fire wrote:

Yes. Finally someone who doesn't list "Awaken..." as FW's best.

Yes. Finally someone who doesn't list "Awaken..." as FW's best. I list "Spectre Within" as their best. I think it is better than ATG. Wailing Arch above all that twists and turns is just too much for me, and I love helium high vocals. My choice is Parallels though (best.album.ever), so what do I know.

| Fates Warning was always a band who interested me on an instrumental level, but I never could get into any of their vocalists and it kept me from ever becoming a fan.

Even considering my obsession with the band, especially Alder-era material, even Ray's singing gets on my nerves sometimes. So I can see that.

wut You HAVE to remedy that. Check out the first two albums when you get a chance. Eric AK is a great singer too, you should appreciate that.

I'd rather hear a band who's great musically with a less than great singer (not saying that is the case with FW) than a band who is completely lame musically with an amazing singer. Steelheart anyone?

| Brian Slagel comments on BWBK's Top 10 Metal Blade list: - Quote :
- #10) GRIP INC. – Nemesis (1997)
"Great album. I have always loved working with Dave Lombardo. If you ask me he is the greatest pure drummer in all of metal. Just insanely talented and a great guy. The singer Gus was such a great guy, and it is so sad he left us way too early. For sure one of my fave releases."
#9) FLOTSAM AND JETSAM – Doomsday For The Deceiver (1986) "A pure classic. Great band and a great album. Of course launched the career of Jason Newsted and Flotsam went on to make a lot of great albums after this. Pure American Thrash metal. I really think this album stands the test of time."
# AMON AMARTH – With Oden On Our Side (2006) "The album that really started it for Amon. When I first heard it the mix was just not right so we re mixed it and it totally came to life. I am so happy for these guys that they have the career they do now. They are really great guys and good friends of mine."
#7) GOATWHORE – Carving Out The Eyes Of God (2009) "They really did hit it right on this one. I love seeing bands put out their best stuff later in their career. Check out their latest one too!"
#6) MERCYFUL FATE – 9 (1999) "Being a massive Mercyful Fate fan since they started, it is really an honor to be able to work with them. I love this album and it does have one of our best album covers of all time! Mercy is so talented and I have loved every minute of working with them. It was so cool to see them reform for the Metallica 30th anniversary shows. For sure this is a classic."
#5) TROUBLE – The Skull (1985) "I so love Trouble and they really were way ahead of their time. This was an interesting album to make. Back then we had NO money and the band came out from Chicago again to record. Money was tight and we had to work really fast, but the outcome was worth it. The first two Trouble albums are just amazing!"
#4) CANNIBAL CORPSE – Tomb Of The Mutilated (1992) "Another of my favorite covers! I love the controversy we had with this one. Musically they were just getting better and better and really hit a stride here. Chris Barnes really has set off a whole scene of vocalist with so much he did here. Again, so happy for these guys they have had such a great career!"
#3) TROUBLE – Psalm 9 (1984) "As I said before these first 2 Trouble albums really are true classics. Again having no money I remember I was out of town for a couple days and came back and they were sleeping in our office. Still this was such a great album and so cool to make. Those guitars are just so heavy!"
#2) SLAYER - Show No Mercy (1983) "We recorded the drums for this in six hours, that's right 6 hours. Really a special band as we all know and I am so honored to have been a part of their start!"
#1) SLAYER - Hell Awaits (1985) "Great choice and my all time fave Slayer album. I still listen to it all the time. I loved being in the studio with them because they are sooo good. We borrowed some tricks from JUDAS PRIEST on this one, I will see if you guys can figure out what that was. Ron Fair was an engineer on this one, he went on to produce the first few Christina Aguilera albums and also ran Chrysalis for awhile. He always tells me no one would believe he worked with Slayer. "Reign In Blood" became the classic Slayer album, but I like this one better due to the variety on it. One of the greatest heavy metal bands of all time and this is a true classic." _________________ FINAL SIGN
