Cooper's previous CD, 2008's "Along Came A Spider", opened with just under 10,000 copies to debut at No. 53.

On an album so varied, I don't see hwo anyone can say any of these songs are out of place. The quality can be argued though. Yes, "Stand" was extremely out of place with the rest of the album but it was originally done for the 2004 Olympic Games soundtrack, so that's why. I like it though.

Not bad for an old fart. Very cool. If not for Trash (#20), this would've been his highest charting album since the original Nightmare (#5).

Nothing is out of place as that. Nothing! Anyway, I actually really like 'What Baby Wants', I think it fits in perfectly. A lot of the dislike I've seen for it elsewhere seems to stem from the fact that it has Ke$ha on it, which is a stupid reason to dislike the song. Also, 'Ghouls Gone Wild' is fantastic just because it really channels that Beach Boys vibe well. _________________

| The only problem I have with 'What Baby Wants' is the auto-tune on Kesha's vocals. Same goes for 'I Am Made of You'.
I'm liking most of the album. I was disappointed with the first listen, but it's since grown on me.

Yeah, auto-tune sucks! Might work well in pop crap it has no place in hard rock IMO.

| The thing I don't get with the tune 'What Baby Wants' is that I'm not getting the "nightmare" concept that is in the other tunes. Maybe if I read the lyrics I could see it, but that's what makes it seem out of place to me. I don't really know who Kesha is (other than a pop singer) so her being there isn't a big deal to me. She'll be forgotten by next year anyway.
As for the auto-tune, well, it's probably covering up her lack of actual talent. I don't mind it on 'I Am Made of You' because it adds a creepy robotic element to Alice's voice. It works for that song. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | Got Classic Rock magazine's Alice Fan Pack in today... VERY cool stuff. The album is in a different package, like a little hardcover booklet, has 2 bonus tracks, 132-magazine all about Alice, album reviews, track by track description of the new songs from Alice himself, 2 two-sided posters (one of which features the names of the people who pre-ordered this edition), a 'School's Out' pin, Alice cut-out mask and Alice face-paint kit. They really went all out for this one! I hope KISS does something similar with the magazine next year.

| Wow, just listened to "Under the Bed" (bonus track from the Fan Pack). Great song. One of the album's best. Sounds like something off Hey Stoopid or maybe The Last Temptation. | |

I love that track and IMO the best track on the album (and it's got plenty of competition).

Fully agreed with the 'I Am Made of You' comment. The use of auto-tune there is very deliberate and meticulous. As opposed to covering mistakes, it's just adding an extra element to the song which is absolutely fine. _________________

I forgot about these bonus tracks and just looked this one up. Holy crap! That probably would have been my favorite off the album. It has a few parts from the original album too which made it even better. DAMN YOU BONUS TRACKS!!!! _________________

| I finally got my copy last week and have had a chance to listen a couple of times and I must say, this is definitely a return to form. There's a huge variety of styles and a very theatrical feel. Like several of you have said, I didn't catch the concept the first time through until I heard "I Gotta Get Outta Here." The recap of all the songs on the album helped me see the common thread and where the story line went. Coop's humor is all over this album; "Disco Bloodbath Boogie Fever" and "Ghouls Gone Wild" in particular are really enjoyable examples of this. Anyone who tries to take those tunes seriously is completely missing the point! I also enjoyed the Vaudeville tune "Last Man on Earth." Great stuff! No one has mentioned the musical connections to the original Nightmare. The piano riff from "Steven" is used in "I Am Made of You" and in a slightly changed form in "The Nightmare Returns." Also, "The Underture" is a nicely orchestrated arrangement of most, if not all, the main musical themes from the first Nightmare. I am really enjoying this album. I liked "Along Came A Spider," too, but this one is more immediately enjoyable, especially for long time fans. Keep 'em coming, Uncle Alice! | |

| Anyone else been spinning the original Nightmare again? Playing them back-to-back is kinda cool. The similarities really come out. I can see this being a sequel. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | The new album does only sound similar to the original when they use the music that was on the original! The new one totally lacks the eerie feelong of the original, and sounds more like a state fare (sp?) then a nightmare!
I like the album, but it would have felt even better without the "Welcome 2 my Nightmare" name! This should not have been a follow up album, just as soooooooooo many other lame cash-in sequels! _________________
