The new album sucks. Very disappointing - way too mellow and has very little crunch.
Yeah Rats was an absolute banger and got me excited and there is plenty of good stuff there (I really like the first instrumental) but as a body of work it's dead last for this one in their catalogue.
I still think it will be huge,
It sounds like the same thing that happened to Volbeat. Their last 2 albums lost the metallic crunch and felt more "hard rock". Not bad, just more radio friendly, trying to broaden their appeal, so-to-speak.
Too bad about Ghost though. Maybe someday down the line I'll give it a shot, but it's not gonna be a priority at this point.

I think the new one is fantastic, actually. Definitely different, definitely not as heavy, but if you can get past that, it's a kick-ass album. It's more theatrical, with a heavy 80s vibe, but it's still really good.

Great album this new one, although it took me a few spins... but now I'm hooked. Meliora will always be my favorite album, but this one really has it melody wise.
I saw them headlining this years Dynamo and the killed it live, band of the day. And they sound much more heavy live with 3 guitar players, the show was awesome aswell.

My son told me yesterday that they had some new songs out. Cool! Thanks for posting. I'll be seeing them in Youngstown next month.

I stumble upon this band from time to time on youtube, and I'm aware that they are wildly popular.
I simply do not understand their popularity. They have a very generic, boring, plain, blah, meh sound to me. It sounds like they are much better musicians who are just "mailing it in." It sounds like they worship at the altar of Alice Cooper, but can't be bothered to try hard.
To each their own. If you like them, cool, I just wonder what am I missing? I've listened to about 10 of their songs and...crickets...
