- Therion - Sitra Ahra
I, like everyone, loved Sirius B and Lemuria. But I also I really liked Gothic Kabbalah. Now I don't know what to make of this new one - is it just TOO weird this time around or is it just bad? So far I'm leaning towards the latter conclusion. And that means it's a major disappointment. I actually disliked Gothic Kabbalah. A lot. I have my reasons. I thought Sitra Ahra was an improvement, but just...not the same. Too little, too late, and too...weird. And I *LOVE* weird music. But from the moment they break into the out-of-fucking-nowhere harmonica solo on "Land Of Canaan," I knew I was going to be in for a very difficult ride. Everyone here mentions the new Ozzy. My issue is: why would you expect different? I haven't liked an Ozzy album since Ozzmosis. Maybe I'm just bitter: Every time he threatens to retire, I--like a total chump--go catch him on the "last tour" for old time's sake, endure his awful stage presence as he teeters from mic to mic and struggles to clap his hands above his head, while pretending he's some sort of "dark lord" or anything. It's just...done. And so am I. My biggest disappointment was the newest Paradise Lost album. It was probably a 2009 release, though--I just took my sweet time getting to it. Apart from that, my disappointments involve mainly Dimmu Borgir, Mortemia (my colleagues over-hyped it), and (sadly) the new Roky Erickson "comeback." I'm a huge fan, and glad to see he's doing better, but I can't stand the sappy feel-good stuff. I miss when he was singing about two-headed dogs in the Kremlin and stealing people's mail. Additional disappointments: Anthrax not releasing Worship Music. And whatever that gay-ass radio bullshit band that Scott Ian plays in now. )+(

. +1 Agreed, and my dog died in my arms the night of her 15th birthday. Music wise - it all turned out OK. Nothing I was disappointed in that I can think of.

| Grand Magus- Hammer Of The North I felt they were a little more doom sounding on the previous albums which I liked. This one just seems a little too upbeat for them.
Kamelot- Poetry For The Poisoned Really disappointed with this one, but I should have seen it coming since I didn't care for Ghost Opera either. These guys are done if they don't change their ways soon. Seems like Kahn is already bored with it and you can almost hear it on the album.
Virgin Steele- Black Light Bacchanalia I couldn't even listen to this whole album.
Firewind- Days Of Defiance Nothing like Premonition. This album had nothing memorable on it.
Accept- Blood Of The Nation This just sounded too outdated even for me. _________________

| Hahaha. Maybe some reggae. But really, there wasn't any faster songs on it. It was kind of just like a Heavy rock album. It was just too hyped up. _________________ | |

| keep of kalessin - reptilian
i had forgotten about this one.....these guys had been going downhill for a long time (ever since they became a new band basically), and their decline apparently picked up speed. reptilian is just....trash---something youd pick up at hot topic, pretty much. i caught them on their tour with ex deo, psycroptic (with a stand-in vocalist), and nile, and their live sound has become unstomachable as well. i never finished reptilian and these guys are more or less dead to me. or worse---an embarrassment.
