| What new releases in 2008 didn't meet up to your expectations?
For me it was: Saint. - Crime Scene Earth I like some songs on it, but overall, it's lacking compared to recent albums like "The Battle". Josh's voice, had he sang on more than three songs, might have improved the album as a whole. Also, the recording doesn't seem to be as good as the past few releases.
Judas Priest - Nostradomas Certainly not bad, just not what I wanted to hear from Judas Priest. There are a few good songs, but overall I am not interested in long, drawn out concept albums and musical interludes and such from Priest. For me, Priest are balls-to-the-wall heavy metal. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| Saint - Crime Scene Earth - I think everyone was disappointed with this one. Maybe if the fans were told that Josh wasn't on the entire album, then people wouldn't have been so disappointed.
Alice Cooper - Along Came A Spider - Alot of people like this one, but I really do not. It sounds forced and bland to me. Should've been my favorite of the year, but it didn't even make the top 20.
Jacobs Dream - Dominion of Darkness - The sound on this one is bad. Why release an album that sounds thrown together? Plus on some songs the drums are off by a quarter beat, which is ultra distracting. |

You might want to trade this one to me. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| Only one I can think of is Once Dead Vision of Hell. Even though I started to enjoy this CD, I expected a better recording from them after two years of waiting. I also don't care much for the vocals. | |

| Judas Priest - Nostradomas = Total crap except a few songs. One big long borefest.
Yngwie Malmsteen - Perpetual Flame = I was expecting a lot better. Instead its a big dud.
Dark Throne - Dark Thrones and Black Flags = Not sure what they were thinking.
Cynic - Traced In Air = Another borefest. I waited all these years for them to reform and I have to settle with this. They could have done MUCH better than this.
Psycroptic - Ob(servant) = What were a great death metal band turned into lame metalcore crap!
Metallica - Death Magnetic = Horrible title, horrible vocals, lame guitar tone, shitty mixing... I wrote these guys off years ago. I guess they should have stayed on the list of written off bands. Truly HORRIBLE!
Vindicator - There Will Be Blood = Seeing these guys go through some hard times and what was on their myspace page, I just expected much better.
Cryptopsy - The Unspoken King = Same as Psycroptic but even worse. Metalcore crap that these guys sold out themselves to do.
Once Dead - Visions of Hell = Lame crappy metalcore singer, horrible snare drum. Some songs catch and other fall by the wayside.

| 1.) Judas Priest - Nostradamus, for the same reasons Scott mentioned. 2.) Testament - The Formation Of Damnation, good album, but not as thrashy as i'd hoped. definitely not as good as The Gathering. 3.) Deicide - Till Death Do Us Part, an awesome album but not what i was expecting after the masterpiece that was The Stench of Redemption 4.) Enslaved - Vertabae, a little to Pink Floydy for my tastes. 5.) Death Angel - Killing Season, has absolutely no energy to it. 6.) Iced Earth - The Crucible of Man, i guess i thought at least it would be as good as the Pyramaze album. 7.) Cryptopsy - The Unspoken King, great music. however the replacement for Lord Worm just plain sucks. 8.) Marty Friedman - Future Addict, not as heavy as Loudspeaker. 9.) Lazz Rockit - Left for Dead, same reason as DA's album 10.) Children of Bodom - Blooddrunk, they are sounding like they are trying to hard...& failing. _________________ | |

| Saint - Crime Scene Earth was at the bottom for a long time. It's not a bad album, but i could never really get oner the changes on vocals. However, towards the end of 2008 another dud entered my collection, it it was painstakeingly obvious that another album had taken over the "throne" at the bottom:
TNT - Atlantis! TNT without US Tony is just not the same! I was hoping for a heavier, more focused sound. But all we get is more psychedelic nonsense, and experimenting. It's time for Ronni to STOP taking drugs, and start delivering good metal muci again! He can experiment on his own time, after all, he managed to release an even worse solo album earlier this year! Presumably "Atlantis" will drop off the face of the earth, much like the mythological place it is named after! _________________

| Mercenary - Architect of Lies ( just doent have the power and hooks of The Hours that Remain, i was hoping for much more out of these guys)
Communic - Payment of Existence ( I held my standards to high for this album, all the songs seem to blend together and sound like one big song a good album but in no means great )

I'm glad I'm not the only one that wasn't thrilled with that record, I really wanted to like it but ended up being rather nonplussed. |

| I wasn't disappointed by most of the ones listed here because I wasn't expecting much of anything. I'm a bit disappointed in the new CYNIC and HELSTAR albums but I won't be next time because I won't expect very much from them. | |

| Saint - Crime Scene Earth - ditto like everyone else Communic - Payment of Existance - a good cd but I expect more from this band. Sebastian Bach - Angel Down. This cd got old really quick. Andre Matos - time to be Fre. One great song and the rest were filler. Death Angel - Killing Season - boring and more boring. Iced Earth - The Crucible of Man - this band really has to stop when matt barlow cant even rescue it... Motley Crue - Saints of los angeles - had no staying power for me. Eluveitie - Slania - not as good as spirit... Fires Of Babylon - not even rob rock could have saved it... Amaseffer - Slaves for Life. Boring.... _________________ | |

| Saint - for the reasons everyone else has said Judas Priest - Nostradamus It's just too long and drawn out. Children Of Bodom - Blooddrunk It seems they're getting worse with each new release. | |

I think Schaffer just needs to go back to writing Metal and stop trying to write the big, long epic stuff...go back to "Stand Alone" and "Violate" and "Disciples Of The Lie"... |

Agree 100000% when they were writing these awesome simple traditional metal songs they were the best on the planet imo. Stand Alone, Violate, The Hunter, Dark Saga, Burning Times all perfection. Now he thinks he's some mastermind composer but forgot how to write a hook..

I agree. I mean, I admire his having this grand vision and all...but the music, IMO, suffers a little for it...I think you can get the same story across without all the drawn out intro/outro/epic vibe... That's the only complaint I have about the show I saw in September...they would stand there still for 2 or 3 minutes with backlighting/strobes while these sound effects and interludes played...boring. |

| I was not disapointed by the new Priest or Once Dead lp in the least! Saint's lp could've been saved by Josh or probably any other vocalist, Rich is NOT a vocalist! | |
