Disappointments 2010?

Which albums did you buy that didn't meet you expectations, float your boat, etc.?


A few for me:
Ozzy - Scream
Exodus - Exhibit B
Iron Maiden - The Final Frontier
Disturbed - Asylum

RATT - Infestation
Read some very positive reviews, heard some samples I thought sounded great. Got the album and it just did not live up to my expectations, not bad but not at all great either..

Saint - Hell Blade

Wonrowe Vision - Mission Invincible (More like Mission Unlistenable)

SAINT - Hell Blade (Incredibly vanilla)
RATT - Infestation (Flat and boring)
ACCEPT - Blood Of Nations (not so disappointed. I knew I wouldn't like it)
GRAVE DIGGER - The Clans Will Rise Again (Generic)

Really? That Accept album? That's weird - every person I know at least likes it.

GREAT album, BUT the thing that keeps it from being perfect in my book is the lack of Udo. If Udo sang on it, the album would rate MUCH higher on my top 10 list.

BTW - 100% agree with you on Hell Blade

Firewind - Days of Defiance (not nearly as good as Allegiance or Premonition)
Ozzy - scream (just not that interesting)
Pertness - From the Beginning to the End (first was great - this not so much)
Heavenly Carpe Diem 2010 AFM Records (very generic)
Airbourne - No Guts. No Glory. 2010 Roadrunner Records (not as good as the debut)
Astral Doors - Requiem of Time 2010 Metalville Records (generic)
Bush, Stan - Dream the Dream 2010 Frontiers Records (very very very generic)
Lordi - Babez for Breakfast 2010 The End Records (5 really good songs - the rest is filler)

Normally I would totally agree but Tornillo nailed it. He does a tremendous job on the vocals on this one. Raw, vicious and powerful and even sometimes he goes for the UDO-like vocals and he can do those.

Iron Maiden - The Final Frontier

I really wanted to like this one, but I'm putting too much effort into it, trying to find something that gets my attention or pulls me back for repeated spins. This just doesn't have it for me. Thus, a disappointment.

I'd almost consider Ozzy's Scream, but I think I knew it was gonna be a disappointment from the get-go. I woulda been more surprised if it was actually good.

There was another artist/cd that I found disappointing, but I can't remember who or what it was now. I'll have to check out my 2010 releases. Overall it was a pretty good year for the stuff I bought.

Helloween - 7 Sinners
Forbidden - Omega Wave
Halford - Made Of Metal

The only one I ended up with that i'm somewhat disappointed in is Ozzy.

Most of these I knew would be disappointments but my hopes were too high for the FORBIDDEN so I was disappointed. I should have known better considering that it had no Alvelais, no Calvert, no Bostaph, Russ wasn't singing as high anymore, and their album before this one was so unlistenable.

Living Sacrifice - Infinite Order, that album sucked they should have stayed broken up.
Iron Maiden - The Final Frornteer, I had to try too hard to enjoy the album
Disturbed - Asylum, it sucks

100% agree with this post.

Nothing else springs to mind. Most albums have been what I was expecting (whether good, bad, mediocre) or better.

I'm sorry to read that the new Exodus is disappointing. It's my Exodus album. I've had it for months but haven't listened to it yet. I aim to do so before the year is up.

For me the biggest disappointment was the New "My Children My Bride" - The album cover had a almost black metal look to it, Yikes does it stink! The album should have had a big giant lollipop on it because that is what happened to anyone who bought it, you were suckered!

Therion - Sitra Ahra

I, like everyone, loved Sirius B and Lemuria. But I also I really liked Gothic Kabbalah. Now I don't know what to make of this new one - is it just TOO weird this time around or is it just bad? So far I'm leaning towards the latter conclusion. And that means it's a major disappointment.

It sounds like they put all their efforts into proving how rough and raw they could sound and forgot about the memorable melodies I've come to expect from the band.

I didnt have big expectations so not many real disappointments, except for the IRON MAIDEN

I was disappointed in Ozzy too. But I kinda knew going in that would be the case. I think the biggest disappointment with it stemmed from the fact I really liked the middle portion of the record and wished the rest of the album had been more like those songs.

I purposely stayed away from Maiden, Helloween, and Forbidden so as to avoid the disappointment others seemed to feel. I'll eventually get all three. But will wait to get them cheap. Which might cause me to give them more of a chance.

Oh yeah, forgot Helloween. Not that I've expected anything, but they really should have disbanded long time ago and put an end to the agony.
