Hard to believe it's that long ago. Wow, it does seem hard to believe. Yesterday, they were playing "Best of" segments on the Howard Stern Show (he's on vacation) and one of the segments was the fight between Marky & Joey from '97. Joey accusing Marky of being a drunk and wearing a wig, Marky calling Joey tubby and horrifying to women. Classic stuff. Both hysterically funny and tradgicly sad at the same time. Rest in Peace, Joey. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| I find the Ramones to be a punk band that seems to transend all genres. Metal fans love them, classic rock fans love them, even pop fans tend to like them. I think it is because, when you break it down, their style was actually heavily rooted in 60's pop. I even have a cousin who listens to nothing but Ranchera music that would ask me to pop them on the CD player. One of the all-time favorite bands. | |

One of the all-time favorite bands. Excellent post. The Ramones were able to be accessible without compromising their general aesthetic. Not an easy task. |

| Detritus e-zine sent me this press release thinking I might be interested in attending the event... it would be extremely cool of course but it's unfortunately not do-able for me. However, I was VERY interested in the part that mentions a forthcoming new Joey Ramone solo release that's in the works...way cool!!
>>>Celebrating what would have been the 58th birthday of punk icon Joey Ramone, the annual Joey Ramone Birthday Bash will take place Tuesday, May 19 at The Fillmore New York at Irving Plaza. Mickey Leigh, event organizer and brother of Joey Ramone, has announced that, as part of the ninth annual Bash, fans will be treated to a special advance sneak peek listen to rough mixes of never-before- heard Joey Ramone solo recordings. Various producers, including longtime Ramones producer Ed Stasium, are currently preparing tracks for a full album's worth of material, slated for posthumous release at the end of the year.
This year's headliners are Fishbone and Supersuckers. The spectacular party will conclude with The Friends Of Joey, featuring Richie Ramone, Handsome Dick Manitoba, Jean Beauvoir, Ivan Julian, George Tabb, Al Maddy and Mickey Leigh. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| The Ramones Rule!!!
I was lucky to see them twice, once in Austin with Social Distortion and Lollapalooza with Metallica and Soundgarden.
You fans need to read, The Ramones: An American Band. This is a great book!

Me too. I had the opportunity once and for reasons I can't now recall, I passed. My old roommate had won tickets off the local radio station to see White Zombie and the Ramones were the openers. I've since seen Rob Zombie solo a few times now, but sadly will never get to see the Ramones. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | I got lucky I saw the Ramones live in 1988, one of the best live shows I had ever seen, and it was just like all legends claimed 22 songs in like an hour, they barely paused for breathe and every once in awhile Dee would announce they were about to play the next song by yelling 'One...Two,... Three'

I saw'em for the first time in 1988 too, Manny. My first show in a small club, and my first mosh pit experience as well (ouch!). Dee Dee was still in the band at that point, he left a few months later. Then I saw'em twice more while C-Jay was in the band (1991 and '94). Gawd, I still miss'em. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| According to today's news, Phil Spector, who produced the Ramones' END OF THE CENTURY (as well as the Beatles' LET IT BE and many other legendary albums of the 60s and 70s) was sentenced to 19 years to life in prison for the murder of a woman who was shot to death in his home a few years back. Buh-bye. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"
