That would be END OF THE CENTURY (1980)... the Ramones fan base is pretty divided on that one. I don't hate it, but it's not my fave Ramones album either - I rank it in the middle of the pack. A lot of folks call it their "sell out" album but personally I feel that the album that followed it (PLEASANT DREAMS) was worse, it was more glossy, pop-oriented and radio-friendly. Joey was the only one who was really excited to work with Phil Spector, since he was a huge fan of the "girl groups" that Phil produced in the 60s. From what I understand, the rest of the band didn't want to do the record with him. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Saying that for me? Actually I like a lot of style. I can listen to Elvis Presley to Kreator passing by Pink Floyd, old Pop and blues. |

Joey was the only one who was really excited to work with Phil Spector, since he was a huge fan of the "girl groups" that Phil produced in the 60s. From what I understand, the rest of the band didn't want to do the record with him. Love that record for obvious reasons, but firstly Joey's singing which is his best. His singing in particular on "Danny Says" which is brilliant. Also their cover of "Baby, I Love You" made famous by one of my favourite groups the Ronettes which is basically a match made in heaven for me. "Chinese Rock" is great aswell although not as good as the Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers version that came out prior. That songs always been a sentimental favourite of mine due to those who wrote it and performed it but also for one of my favourite bands 'Hanoi Rocks' who derives their name from it. "Do You Remember Rock 'n' Roll Radio?" is another winner on that album as well. I've got a great duet cover of Johnny Thunders "You Can't Put Your Arm Around A Memory" sung by Ronnie Spector and Joey Ramone which is brilliant. That was the song i played the other day when thinking about Joey.

Aside from the first four, I'd also recommend TOO TOUGH TO DIE from 1984, ANIMAL BOY from 1986 and HALFWAY TO SANITY from 1987. They produced some of their hardest hitting stuff during the mid to late 80s. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

The remastered version of TOO TOUGH TO DIE has a couple of excellent bonus tracks: a cover of the Rolling Stones' "Street Fightin' Man" and a GREAT track called "Smash You" that was a B-side on a single. To the best of my knowledge, the ANIMAL BOY and HALFWAY TO SANITY CDs were not part of the remaster campaign, for some odd reason. The Rhino Remasters series stopped with TOO TOUGH TO DIE. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| FAVORITE PUNK BAND EVER! They're S/T and Rocket to Russia are both classic albums. The Sex Pistols and the Clash are my 2nd and 3rd favorites. | |

When they played shows, they would not stop in between songs, they'd just go directly into the next one, so in a way, all their songs is 1 big song.

I remember my roommate saw them opening for White Zombie and he said the same thing. The only time you knew it was a new song was when the bass player (C.J.?) would yell "1,2,3,4!!"

Either C.J. or Dee Dee (Dee Dee was the original bassist, C-Jay replaced him in the late '80s.) would do the "countoff" between songs. With their thick as heck Noo Yawk accents, it would sound more like "wun too tree faw!" _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Yea, I knew it wasn't DeeDee because this show was from the early to mid 90's, long after DeeDee had jumped ship. I just wasn't sure if there was anyone else but those 2 guys.

| Yea The Ramones Rule !!!!! Fat Freddy rules for knowing how cool the The Ramones are !!!! " Too Tough to Die" favorite Ramones album, " Mama's Boy" one of the best opening tracks of any album of the 80's. I hated to find out Joey and Johnny hated each other, learning this I am shocked that these guys stayed together as long. "Road to Ruin" is great album, I love their 60's covers album " Acid Eaters" miss the heck out of the Ramones. | |
