FREEDOM CALL-Legend Of The Shadow King

What's your take on the new FC disc, Scott Mitchell?

Legend of The Shadow King is a pretty solid album. I posted about them in the power metal thread a few days ago. The album isnt as powerful as previous but it has some killer moments. Sometimes the songs come off as 80's arena rock and it adds a new flavor to the band and I like it.

Not a favorite of mine by Freedom Call but def not a bad album. 7.5/10

I have only made it through the first 4 tracks so far but am loving it! Have you bought this CD yet, E33? If not, what are ya waiting for, eh?!

Circle of Life 7/10
Eternity 8.5/10
Shadowking 8/10

Eternity gets the highest because that album slays but their are some very weak moments on very nonmemorable songs on it.

You will really dig it! A couple of their songs even venture into gothic territory!

I know you changed it because 'All men play on 13' didnt quite have a ring to it...

I have never owned those albums or had them in cdr format. I have heard a lot of the tracks here and there but never sought out to purchase them. Crystal Empire if I remember right had some pretty symphonic moments with the keys? I do remember the song "Ocean" and " Freedom Call" being pretty standout.

As far as Stairway goes I havent heard a lot but I can say that the song "Another Day' is one of the best power metal songs I have heard and it almost has this Dark Moor type sound to it. So based on that song I should seek this one out..

I would say besides having some of the flat out best songs in the catalog, the guitars on those are also more involved and interesting, Sascha Gerstner was on second guitar and made a great guitar duo with Chris. Some of the best and most memorable leads in newer metal came out of there, like in 'Freedom Call', 'Hymn to the Brave', 'Another Day' as you mentioned.. 'Graceland'.....I like almost all FC releases, but I love the first two to death.

CDInzane usually has the best price on imports! That's where I get most of my imports from!
