New Release Tuesday

They have that retro 70's hard rockin' vibe that's all the rage these days. If you like bands like Wolfmother, you'd probably dig 'em. I like them bunches and bunches. I also have a copy of their debut for trade.

So I listened to the new Priestess and musically it's very riff heavy and tight, it's the voice the pushes me away, at times it doesn't fit and feels odd somehow.

The new album, in my opinion, is a "growing" album. Not meaning that it grows on you, but that it shows a band maturing. They didn't quite hit the mark on this one. It's really good, but kind of stutters at times. The debut is fantastic, though.

I'm interested in Fear Factory, HIM, Dave Matthews/Tim Reynolds, and Orphaned Land. But the new Eyesore will only be buying the Orphaned Land disc. The old Eyesore weeps inside.

YEasayer is a great band...not heavy at all but good stuff!!!

I shall buy no new cd....until the 23rd...when the new JOHNNY CASH sees release.

I bought the pre-order package which includes the 2-LP version, the CD & the download tracks.

I wouldn't mind getting that new Cash album. I love all of those American recordings.

I'm still not totally sold on High on Fire. I gotta be in the right mood for them. Musically, they're awesoem, but the vocals kinda harsh my buzz, so to speak.

Pike's vocals are getting more assured with each release, he's actually singing in addition to the normal Lemmy delivery. The songwriting has taken a definite maturity step as well.

This is my favorite record since the debut album.

The vocals are what has turned me off in the past. But I dig some harsh stuff, so I may have just not given them a chance.

By "download tracks," do you mean additional tracks not on the CD?

I need to check out the new Alkaline Trio. I'll need samples first because they've started to morph from a power pop band with dark lyrics into an emo band.

Isn't new Keel tomorrow? And a rerelease of, The Right To Rock, I think also.

Nope. Those are already out.

Generally, though, those kinds of releases are not listed on Newbury's release e-mail. I think it's generated strictly by major label info. They stock all the Frontiers stuff, but you have to know it's there.

Not extra tracks, just downloadable mp3 versions. I've heard conflicting stories about a possible bonus track on the LP, but I'll have to wait to find out.

Not much interests me this week. Save for the Lacuna Coil and Testament.

But I already bought the albums and I'm not sure I wanna fork out the dough for the double-versions.
