First Christian Metal Album Resurrection Band - Colours 'American Dream', 'N.Y.C.', 'City Streets'.... got it in 1983 ... it came out in 80... Other wise Barnabas 'Approaching Light Speed' very metal... in 1983...
Everything didn't start to pop until summer of 84 when YABA came out...
I love all versions of Rush (but you probably already guessed that!)

Once again you are in error!
Seriously, by what strech of any imagination could you consider Petra's s/t lp to be metal?

Petra have NEVER been metal, IMO. I still think they are great for a hard rock act, though.

Trouble Psalm 9, but I wasnt a christian.
Deliverance s/t and TQT Stop The Bleeding were the albums that ministered to me and brought Jesus into my life.

Really? You became a Christian through Christian metal? That's pretty cool.

I acquired my first Christian metal totally by accident. I picked up Mortification-Blood World on cassette in 1994, (in WALMART of all places!!), and was reading the liner, and that's when I found out about their faith.

Toho is a great friend of mine, but I'll never understand why he doesn't fully embrace ALL decades of Rush. (Thanks for defending the faith, detuned. )

for "metal" it was To Hell With The Devil.
But my first Christian Hard Rock (sometimes verging on metal) were the first three from The Rez Band. Also gotta mention Bob Dylan's "Saved" years, as well as The Osmonds "The Plan". That's right!, a bubblegum Glam album that actually contains some clumsy hard rock with a vaguely Mormon theme!
For "spititual" proto-hard rock, check out the s/t from the band Help (1970), or some of the stuff from the band Gravy Train. Not formulaic, but they definitly had God on their minds without a doubt.

First one I purchased on cassette was probably either Angelica's "Rock, Stock & Barrel" or possibly Whitecross' "Love on the Line" EP. First CD purchase was probably Tourniquet's "Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance".
