| Molly Hatchet all the way for me.
Post plane crash Skynyrd is really hit or miss for me. Hatchet has only produced a couple of stinkers over their career (The Deed Is Done and Lightning Strikes Twice) and I will listen to either of those albums before any Skynyrd after Street Survivors. Plus Bobby Ingraham is freakin' awesome. I would love to see the current lineup in concert. |

| I LOVE post-crash Skynyrd; especially the 2000+ years.
They were like a Southern rock supergroup with members of the original Skynyrd, Blackfoot and the Outlaws all in the band with Johnny Van Zant on vox. Unfortunately with the deaths of Hughie Thomasson and Billy Powell, I think the band might finally be finished. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Im basing my opinion on the songs only. I went with Skynyrd because they have a lot of amazing songs. Hatchet has a lot of great songs. | |

You could be right about Skynyrd having better songs, but I have heard those songs so much due to being overplayed on the radio and every bar band I have seen doing some godawful version of a Skynyrd classics. I think I may just little burnt out on them.

I think I may just little burnt out on them. That's probably why I really like post-2000 Skynyrd. That stuff got almost zero airplay and most people can't name one song. You're right about bar bands ruining classic Skynyrd. Every bar band I've ever seen either played a Skynyrd song or was goaded into it by some drunk guy in the back who yelled "Freebird!" between every song. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Reminds me of walking in the hallway last week at work. My music obsession is a bit of a running joke around my workplace. I was walking by one of the ladies' offices and she called me over. She said "Wanna hear some real music?"...and then she promptly cranked "Sweet Home Alabama" from her computer speakers. For a moment I was ashamed to be a Skynyrd fan. |

| Good song but seriously, seriously overplayed.
Of the "classic" Skynyrd music, my favorite is "Workin For MCA".
That one hardly ever got played on the radio except for when I was living in Milford, CT. The local rock station had a request show and this group of guys would always call in to request that song because the worked for they Milford Cemetary Authority. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Yeah, Breeze is one that I didn't like when it was being played all the time because I didn't like all the horns.
Now I love it. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Breeze, MCA, I Need You (My personal fav), On the Hunt, All I can do is write about it, I Never Dreamed, and I Know a Little (Steve Gaines was amazing) are all some of my favs from Skynyrd.
Although I love the radio staples there are plenty of gems on every cd they released that I am glad didnt hit the radio.
I agree Sweet Home is way overplayed but that intro riff may be one of the most memorable riffs ever.

No doubt. Actually, the overplayed Skynyrd song that gets on my nerves is Freebird. It takes too long to kick in IMO. If should be about half as long as it is. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Thats probably one of the greatest songs ever written. I never get tired of it and yes it does take too long.
When I used to gig we used to play a metal version of that song to add some life to it and make it our own. We would start with the clean intro then morph into a very heavy doom like jam. It was pretty sweet. The only reason we covered it was it seemed to always get mentioned at shows.
