Who cares? A bazillion other people agree with him. |

You know, back fifty years ago or so, lots of white people had the same sort of ignorant opinions about black people. Blanket labeling is just ridiculous. And when you come out swinging with such opinions, like you have here, you should stand behind them and defend your opinion with intelligence and maturity. Somehow, a few posts back, you turned into a 12-year-old Blabbermouth poster. If you know every black metal band, and all their varying messages and beliefs, then by all means claim to be an expert who can lay down such a broad statement as "black metal sucks." But we all know there's no way you can know all that. EDIT: I should have continued reading the posts, huh? |

| That indeed was odd.
I both agree and disagree with what Gilbert is trying to express.
I think he is just trying to defend passion for good ol' Heavy Metal that he and all the members of this great forum share and love. You do come off a bit like myself when I first joined this board, Gilbert. I came in with the same love for "real" Heavy Metal, and I was quite pissed off at the music industry today (still am). I don't really think Gilbert has a problem with the actual music, it's just more their fans and why they are so popular. Believe me, it can piss me off as well. But it's the same story with the old "Metallica Selling Out" discussion - A lot of old turds rag and rag and RAG about how they "Sold out, they promised to never do a video, but they did, Blah Blah BLAH!" - And come up with all kinds of accusations of why it is that they did, when really they have no freaking clue. Their just coming up with negative theories to back them up ("KingGodSpace" spends more time bashing them than actually reviewing their music - moron). Same with the whole "Black Metal is satanic" discussion - Nobody can point out individual bands and say why it is they express the message they do - Sure, in most cases it is probably an immature marketing gimmick, and they do not really believe in what they sing - But nobody knows what bands do it, and who the f**k even cares? Giblert, you come off like a lot of those moronic polititions after the shootings at Colombine High School - "Oh, it's Marylin Manson's fault they did it, because they were listening to him all the time" - BULL CRAP. Same with these fans - It's their own immature, poser personalities that cause it. And just let them. Let them go do and say all their crap and then we can just laugh at them. I don't mean to say you are moronic, Gilbert, by any means. I understand your point of view.
Shagrath never insulted AC/DC, just merely expressed his opinion.

| A long, long time ago I can still remember how That music used to make me smile And I knew if I had my chance That I could make those people dance And maybe they'd be happy for a while But February made me shiver With every paper I'd deliver Bad news on the doorstep I couldn't take one more step I can't remember if I cried When I read about his widowed bride But something touched me deep inside The day the music died(*)
So, bye, bye Miss American Pie Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey and rye Singin' this'll be the day that I die This'll be the day that I die
Did you write the book of love And do you have faith in God above If the Bible tells you so Now do you believe in rock and roll Can music save your mortal soul And can you teach me how to dance real slow
Well, I know that you're in love with him 'Cause I saw you dancin' in the gym You both kicked off your shoes Man, I dig those rhythm and blues I was a lonely teenage broncin' buck With a pink carnation and a pickup truck But I knew I was out of luck The day the music died I started singin'
Bye, bye Miss American Pie Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey and rye Singin' this'll be the day that I die This'll be the day that I die
Now, for ten years we've been on our own And moss grows fat on a rolling stone But, that's not how it used to be When the jester sang for the king and queen In a coat he borrowed from James Dean And a voice that came from you and me Oh, and while the king was looking down The jester stole his thorny crown The courtroom was adjourned No verdict was returned And while Lennon read a book on Marx The quartet practiced in the park And we sang dirges in the dark The day the music died We were singin'
Bye, bye Miss American Pie Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey and rye Singin' this'll be the day that I die This'll be the day that I die
Helter skelter in a summer swelter The birds flew off with a fallout shelter Eight miles high and falling fast Landed flat on the grass The players tried for a forward pass With the jester on the sidelines in a cast Now the half-time air was sweet perfume While sergeants played a marching tune We all got up to dance Oh, but we never got the chance 'Cause the players tried to take the field The marching band refused to yield Do you recall what was revealed The day the music died We started singin'
Bye, bye Miss American Pie Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey and rye Singin' this'll be the day that I die This'll be the day that I die
Oh, and there we were all in one place A generation lost in space With no time left to start again So come on Jack be nimble, Jack be quick Jack Flash sat on a candlestick 'Cause fire is the devil's only friend And as I watched him on the stage My hands were clenched in fists of rage No angel born in Hell Could break that Satan's spell And as the flames climbed high into the night To light the sacrificial rite I saw Satan laughing with delight The day the music died He was singin'
Bye, bye Miss American Pie Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey and rye Singin' this'll be the day that I die This'll be the day that I die
I met a girl who sang the blues And I asked her for some happy news But she just smiled and turned away I went down to the sacred store Where I'd heard the music years before But the man there said the music wouldn't play And in the streets the children screamed The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed But not a word was [Spoken] The church bells all were broken And the three men I admire most The Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost They caught the last train for the coast The day the music died And they were singin'
Bye, bye Miss American Pie Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey and rye Singin' this'll be the day that I die This'll be the day that I die
They were singin' Bye, bye Miss American Pie Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey and rye Singin' this'll be the day that I die This'll be the day that I die _________________

| Wow. What an interesting read this thread turned out to be. Glad I checked back in on it. As for the original "insult", I dunno, seemed pretty tame to me. We've probably made harsher comments about AC/DC on this very message board. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

You can't kill metal music, man. This isn't some exclusive club, either, where only cool, "true" music fans get to hang out. That sort of thinking is what makes the metal community annoying. I got Beth Hart jammin' right now. How's that for metal? |

| Gilbert: OK, we get it. You don't like black/death metal. I don't either. But I don't think fans of those genres are any less "metal" than I am.
In another thread you're "against" female vocalists in metal bands, too... so tell us, what the heck DO you like?
Just curious. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I don't like investors messing up with my favourite music, trying to invent "new genres" which aren't really music, and convincing easily influencable kids to buy crap cds...............I rest my case, and i'm out of this thread........... | |

| We all know Ac/Dc isnt the most talented band on the earth and they're pretty much just a plain old rock n roll band, but nothing is wrong with that and look what it has done for them.
I'm not a fan of any black metal but my take on words is "WHO CARES".

That probably bugs me more than the original criticism of AC/DC........the way Malcolm Young holds down that rhythm guitar is one of the hardest jobs in rock n' roll, you need a bit to do what he does. Simplicity can be deceiving.
