I picked up Incorperated a couple of weeks ago & haven't stopped listening to it yet, it's plenty hard & I really dig the vocals, Is Gus Chambers in any other band? I haven't been able to find much info. How does this album rank against their other albums?

All four albums of theirs are great. Nemesis is probably their worst album, but it's still excellent. One of my favorite bands! Highly recommended to everyone.

Gus is apparently a "legend" in the UK punk scene. That's what I've read, anyway. Outside of Grip Inc., he did a one-off punk project called Squad 21. They released one album called Skullduggery. Most recently he joined Squealer and they released one album—Confrontation Street—in 2006, but under the name Squealer A.D. He's no longer in the band, though.
Other than that, the dude is sort of a mystery. I think he's got one of the best metal voices I've ever heard. I wish he'd do more. Have you heard Enemy of the Sun? It's one of Waldemar Sorychta's latest projects and musically sounds nearly identical to Grip Inc. But the singer on the album is more of a growler.
Sorychta is the man!

Thanks brother, I cant take too much cookie monster, I enjoy hearing a great new, or new to me, singer. Plus Dave Lombardo is one of the tightest drummers I've ever heard. I cant believe these guys slid in under the radar for so long.

The guy on Enemy of the Sun isn't too much of a cookie monster singer, though. Plus he's mixes it up with a lot of clean stuff. The music is also more varied than Grip Inc, but Waldemar's style comes through.
Everyone think Grip Inc. is Lombardo's side-project, but Waldemar is the man behind the band. I think Dave has written two Grip Inc. songs.

agreed... the last one, Incorperated, was their best & a high note to end on (not sure if they actually ended though). all of them were awesome. although Nemisis didn't measure up to the rest of their output, it's still better that 80% of everything else out there. the combo of Waldmar & Dave just can't be beat.

Yeah, not sure if they're done or not. I think Dave owns the name of the band. Have you heard Enemy of the Sun?

Yup! Wicked underrated, that guy. I love his use of harmonics. He's so random with it, but it works so well.
He's now doing the upcoming Witchbreed album, which should be awesome. I have their demo EP (reviewed it here) and it was great.

"Ostracized" might be my favorite by them. A different kind of song, with it's big, heavy groove, but killer. I first heard that song when I worked at Strawberries (a music store, for those who don't know). The song was on a playlist tape we had to play over and over and over again in the store. The first time it came on, I was like "New White Zombie tune?" Haha.
Been a big fan ever since. Too bad the band is so non-prolific. But hey, maybe that's why they're so great.

Yeah, Rusty Nail is my fav Grip song as well and that record just rips major arse. It has those cool harmonic accents like Machine Head did on Burn My Eyes.

that song is so out of place on that album it does indeed stand out. aside from Heretic War Chant, it was the first experience i had with the band. i thought it was good contrast. even moreso once i heard the album in it's entirety. great mid-paced riff!

It does. What I like about Waldemar is that his harmonics are often in unexpected spots. Just listen to the first song in that YouTube clip for Enemy of the Sun. Those harmonics almost seem random.
I'd love to see him work with someone like Devin Townsend. Maybe Sorychta, Townsend and Swano. That would be sweet!

Yeah, I expected something different when I picked up the album. That monster riff really is something White Zombie would have done. But hey, it works perfectly. I love the lyrics to that tune as well.

Yup. I have it downloaded, though. Trying to find the import with the two bonus tracks to buy. Great album, though. He's got one other project in the works, right?

Think I need to pull out my Grip Inc. albums. I really like all three (I don't have Incorporated), but haven't listened to 'em in a while.

I only have Nemesis and it is pretty good (although I must give it more spins) but now that I see that some die hard fans consider it there weakest then I must seek out other albums. I got Nemesis pretty cheap at a used CD store and that's why I got that one first. I will probably give this another spin tonight.
