| That's not bad, but I think I prefer their earlier stuff. It was a little less polished and raw. And yea, I thought the intro sounded like that Joan Jett song. | |

- You kidding me? Is that what the latest album sounds like? Holy crap they've changed! They were a pop punk band before. That song kicks ass! That's a total Joan Jett anthem!
I thought it was a Joan Jett cover at first! Pretty good song - I may have to pick up the CD It sounds like "I Hate Myself For Loving You" in the beginning. That's what made me think of Joan Jett.
Since we're on topic. How is Joan Jett? I pretty much know only the hits. That's the song I was thinking of - Joan Jett is alright. I haven't heard her every album she's put out, but the popular ones are pretty good hard rock albums. Her songs tend to be very short, almost a pop-punk feel (there's that term again!)

| I'm going to see the Donnas in May.
But in one of the biggest missmatches in concert history, the promoters have decided to sandwich the Donnas between 2 trendy bands that are popular with the emo crowd (i ain't going to call em emo because i don't know what it is now but think Academy Is).
So their bringing the Donnas out from America to Aus to support an Aus band! Weird. And it's not like its a big thing, their only playing pubs and clubs to probably 500 a night.
Anyway the crowds aren't going to mix well, the Donnas have a cult following amongst garage rockers and classic hard rock fans. While the Aus bands Kisschasy and the Getaway Plan have a younger more emo pop following.
Cue the New York Dolls Showdown!
Any way these are......
Kisschasy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwc0wQt-L1Q&feature=related
Getaway Plan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BZGy8p5BOM
........playing with this
The Donnas https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_f02lyIkUo I actually can't wait to see the looks on Kisschasy and the Getaway Plan's faces when they get blown off by chicks. But then the Donnas live would blow most bands off.

| Just picked this CD up (B!TCHIN') today. The only other Donnas CD I own is SPEND THE NIGHT and yea, this new one is quite a change. SPEND THE NIGHT sounded to me like they'd been overdosing on old Ramones, 70s KISS, and Bon Scott-era AC/DC records, but B!TCHIN' sounds more like they've moved on to the vintage early 80s albums by Pat Benatar, Def Leppard, Joan Jett (yes, "Don't Wait Up For Me" is indeed an absolutely shameless steal from JJ's "I Hate Myself For Lovin' You") and Motley Crue. Not what I would've expected from them but pretty damn good nonetheless. The band shot on the back of the CD booklet seems to indicate that they've had a pretty serious glam makeover too. Not that I'm complaining. Even the bass player looks pretty good for a change. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| They are releasing their own stuff now so they can do whatever they please. And I was pleased to see their new look. The CD took a couple of listens because it is SUCH a departure from Spend the Night (which was the only other one I heard before Bitchin'). But if you listen to the Gold Medal album, you can hear the transition between the 2 styles. Or at least I do. |

...yeah but with that so comes larger everything else. Which ain't my scene. Me likes Allison (Guitarist) best. I'll be seeing these gurlz live in a few weeks wedged inbetween two trendy pop punk/emo bands. The person who scheduled this should be shot.

Yeah, but still no nude pictures? I'm disappointed. |

Yeah, but still no nude pictures? I'm disappointed. The bass player would probably trade you some nude pictures for a night of passion. I get the feeling that she's the gal the other band members have to set up with dates. | Nice...unfortunately, I live just far enough away from New York City nowadays that taking a trip there is a massive undertaking that requires tons of planning, and therefore becomes a gigantic pain in the ass. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Bumpin' an oldie for some information.
If one were to considder making a Donnas cd purchase, where might one begin?
The logical place would be "at the beginning" with their debut, but I understand they've gone through some growing pains since their humble beginnings. Both their early raw, pop-punk and latter 80's-arena-rock stylings both have their appeal. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | Most of their stuff seems to go pretty cheap, so I might check them out at some point. I'll probably wait till after the holidays and pick up a disc or 2 with any Amazon gift cards that might fall out of Santa's sack. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | I just picked up both (1998's) America's Teenage Rock n Roll Machine and (1999's) Get Skintight from my local library. Though I can appreciate ATRRM, it pales in comparison to "Get Skintight". I'm not sure how long some of the songs ATRRM were in the arsenal, but the band seemed much more polished by their third album. The production is pretty raw on both records, but the songwriting increased exponentially.

| Yea, they really progressed over time. They started out as a punky Ramones-type band and by their last album, it was slick Joan Jett-type rock n roll. I'm not saying that as a criticism. All their albums have a certain charm to them, but they certainly got more polished as they went along. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was.
