I love all the albums Megadeth put out, and up until St. Anger, all the albums Metallica put out.


Risk was a great album, just not a great Megadeth album

Besides Its Impossible to decide if a bands "better" than another band. theres no way to mesure how good a band is.

Earlier Metallica is classic status (the first 4 albums especially).

Megadeth has been more consistent, especially during from Rust in Peace on through.

I was into Metallica first, but I truly love Megadeth as well. They are both great bands, both influential. I think the newer Metallica releases are not very good (some good moments but not sustained). The newer Megadeth albums are more steady and solid, more sustained.

I like them both, but the newer albums favor Megadeth by far.

Metallica as far as favorite albums go, Megadeth for having the balls to go back to metal (I personally felt betrayed by Metallica when Load came out, without the Black Album I never would have gotten into metal and they go and soften up and lost me). I really like the new Megadeth album and I don't even give thought to a new Metallica album (it's WAY off my radar).

Metallica in the 80s, Megadeth in the 90s & 00s...

Megadeth is my #2 favorite band and it's all because of their work from the 90s onward. Their 80s stuff is good, but it doesn't stand out to me outside of a few songs from each album and they aren't albums I keep in rotation, unlike their later stuff.

Metallica was just killin' it back in the 80s and I would put any of their 80s albums against any of Megadeth's 80s albums.

Not a thread killer. Just food for thought. I like both bands. It's like the old Judas Priest vs. Iron Maiden debate I suppose. It's all just a matter of taste, but it's a debate that has been going on for twenty years now.

You can't debate personal opinion, so anyone who actually gets up in arms over a topic like this is a bit cuckoo anyway. I would never try to force MY opinion and personal taste on someone because you can't. I could give a flip if someone says Metallica RULZ and Megadeth SUX because it'll always be the opinion of one person and something that's not fact.

But I don't think we have to worry about any "NUH UH!" "UH HUH!" posters on this board though.

metallica are way better than megadeth even though i am big fans of both bands.

it boils down to the vocals i alays preferred papa Hets voice to Uncle Daves so metallica win

Well I gotta say Metallica. Really because they have brought Metal out of the shadows for the last 26 years. And yes, after the Black Album everything has sucked by them. But still they are the kings of Thrash. If it is a Thrash Metal battle, it SHOULD be Metallica vs Slayer or Pantera. But if it's a Metal battle, it should be the mother of all battles: Metallica vs Sabbath.

Ah,the old Megadeth Vs Metallica debate. This is one of those debates that will never go away, much like Catholicism Vs Protestantism, Star Wars Vs Star trek, and Priest vs Maiden.

There is no way to prove which band is better. I know Metallica will always be the more popular band, but popularity doesn't make you the best. I love both bands but Megadeth is not only my favorite of the two bands, they are my favorite band period. I know it's pointless to debate who is better, but it's still fun just as long people respect the opinions of others.

What is funny to me is how some kids who like no other metal bands still go ga-ga over Metallica. They are great, no question, but why this one band? My niece is dating this guy who seems to be into rap and r&b for all that I can tell, but then he asks me to burn some Metallica for him.
