| The skill level of a lot of the bands in the 70's and now hasn't changed. Some of the best musicians were around in the 60's and 70's!
Sorry to hijack the thread as well. Just had to state my fact!

| Even though I like the song, when I hear The God That Failed by Metallica I refuse to sing the actual lyrics and make up my own. | |

Hahahaha, I've actually seen MF perform that one live. It's freakin' even MORE crazed in concert! An entire room ful of weirdos chanting that intro along with King Diamond... that's an experience! I used to have an MF t-shirt with the "Don't Break The Oath" album cover on the front too... (nothin' sez "METAL" like wearing a big flamin' Satan on your chest when you're fifteen years old...) I could always tell when my Mom came across it in the laundry pile cuz I'd hear her go "Oooooh, I DON'T LIKE THIS ONE!" _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| ^^^So scary when that happens - been to that hell plenty of times myself.
I didn't discover Mercyful Fate or Slayer till I was a little older and could put the things into perspective. But I don't doubt if I had been younger it would have freaked me a bit.
One time on a class picnic a group of us wandered deep into the nearby woods. In a clearing next to the river was an old building that had been apparently used to house WWI and II veterans who had mental disorders. Of course since some girls were with us a few of us had to be brave and go inside. Down the corridor we walked until we came to what looked like a waiting room door leading to the front. When we went through it, all you could see was in red paint satanic graffiti - floor, walls, ceiling. Every inch of that room. In the corner was a wood slab with carvings and burn marks. I don't think I ever fled something so quickly. At the time (this was Indiana) there was a lot of talk in the news about satanic cults in the area. Transients' bodies would be found and right away it was these cults. Of course in reality it was probably nothing more than the dangers of riding the rails. And the graffiti was probably nothing more than bored teenagers. But man, at thirteen I was pretty freaked by the whole deal.

| Lets face it, if listening to a satanic, occult, or anti-Chirstian band could condem you to hell, every single one of us better bring some SPF1,000,000 with us in the afterlife. | |

| I have felt this kind of feeling while listening to the song "The Ancient Plague", last track of KREATOR's Enemy of God Revisited. I was listening the album version on the DVD disc, and I didn't read the lyrics too many times before. So on that spin I noticed the final verse that made me worried about listening to them again... "And I saw millions of souls Preparing for the last incarnation No more earthly pleasures no more life's temptation And the ghosts of long forgotten societies Cast out wicked dreams from the heart of the lost The future is drowning in the ashes of the past And through the toxic stench of human tragedy A saviour appears in a red mask in front of me AND SATAN IS HIS NAME!!!" |
