A friend at work told me this earlier today and (for whatever reason) was thinking it was for a new greatest hits. I am hoping it's for the soundtrack as I would be more interested in the "Dirt" movie finally coming out rather than another useless money grab of a hits collection.

For what I read it is for the soundtrack to the film 'The Dirt', which will be another greatest hits moneygrab with a few new tunes they will throw in

The thing about The Dirt is that it tells the story from multiple perspectives. Not sure if it will work as a movie.

The way I see it, it'll be told from Nikki's perspective. Let's face it, it's his band. He's always been the driving force, so his version is the one going to be told.
My guess, the opening scene will be him overdosing and dying with the voice-over "That me on the stretcher. I'm clinically dead. How did I get here? Let's see". Then a series of "flashbacks" to the start of the band, rise to the top, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Vince Neil recently posted on social media that 'The Dirt' will make it's debut on Netflix this March. No official word from the folks at Netflix though, so maybe Vince was just drunk typing.

I actually heard about today on WQMF saying it was coming out on Netflix. So maybe Vince isn't too crazy.

Looks like the "Dirt" movie will see the light of day on Netflix on March 22.
According to Netflix's official Facebook page, the first trailer will premiere online tomorrow.
The only name I recognize in the cast is SNL regular/Ariana Grande's ex/poster boy for celebrity social-media depression Pete Davidson, who apparently will be playing Tom Zutaut, the record exec who signed the Crue back in the day.

They make a big deal in the article about making it "Authentically 80s". Since I'm kind of a nerd about period pieces, it'll be interesting to see just how accurate it is.

I will watch it, at one time, in the big 80's, Motley Crue were a favorite band of mine, granted that was a long time ago, in a pot haze so far away, but cannot deny I was at one time a major fan of these guys

So here's what we've all been waiting for...
While I'm sure there will be plenty for fans to nitpick about, this looks plenty entertaining to me. I'm looking forward to it.

The actors hardly resemble the band.

The corpse they originally signed to play Mick wanted too much money.

Mick Mars visits the set:
"Eww! Who left this crusty old zombie dummy here? The Walking Dead is shooting on the lot next door."
"I'm not a zombie dummy. I'm Mick."

With how sanitized all of these rock star movies are (Walk the Line, Rock Star, that Def Leppard VH1 thing), I'm really embracing a hard R-rated version, one that doesn't pull punches when it comes to how nasty it all is. So that's cool.
However, the footage in the trailer isn't convincing me it will be very good. Some of the acting is to abrupt, pointed. Hairstyles look like wigs. Tongue-in-cheek 80's tropes ("hey you're wearing my pants") abound. A lot of smashing things violently (the hell was up with that glass pane?). Melodrama. I dunno, it feels like the formula that plagued Rock Star--namely the failed attempt to examine the rock n roll lifestyle without ever going beyond a bunch of broad strokes.
But it's just a trailer (they're so poorly assembled these days!). I'm looking forward to catching it and hopefully being pleasantly surprised.

I got off the Crue train after Shout so I'm not qualified to nit pick what is or isn't historically accurate in this trailer.
That said, the book was a phenomenal read and the trailer looks like a load of fun. I'm in. Lord knows I've sat through worse on Netflix just this year.

The book was excellent, so I feel sorta compelled to see the movie as a sort of companion piece.

Yeah everything post-Shout isn't much for me. Crue is one of those bands where they get worse the more I listen to them save for those first two albums. I even dug Dr Feelgood back in the day and will stand by it being a very well-packaged reboot of the band, but every time I hear it I cringe more and more.
I also gotta be honest here while I'm at it--Vince's vocals, for the most part, push me past the point of raw irritability.

I will watch it for sure. Those 4 guys combined and became HUGE. I loved the book. Right up there with Aerosmith Walk this Way. Insightful. Humorous. Wild. I remember seeing them open for Ozzy - Bark at the Moon tour - They were damn dangerous - I haven’t seen that vibe since. I stood outside a club wanting to see Guns and Roses - when AFD was about to take off. And Crue crashed and burned too. Don’t forget that. Wild side. Wild side. Still kicking ass on the wild side.

There's a reason why this is being dumped on Netflix - because it's trash. This looks like the quality of a VH1 movie. I'll watch it for the LOLs.

This is Tony Cavalero, the guy playing Ozzy in "The Dirt." He might look familiar if you have pre-teen kids cuz he played the Jack Black character in Nickelodeon's TV series based on the movie "School Of Rock."
He's def got the crazy look in his eye for Ozzy.
Does this mean we are gonna see a re-creation of the famed "snorting ants" incident?
