| According to this article, the writers of the film adaptation skimmed over or completely omitted parts of Crue’s history and factual accounts. Not surprised... I knew it would be a glorified VH1 type movie. Even after 10 years of preparation and pre production at real motion picture development depts.

| It was okay, we watched it last night. Nothing I'd watch twice, but it was entertaining for what it was. I remembered that crash Vince got into and remember even back then how easy he got off, but thought he got a little harsher sentence than what the movie portrayed. He really did get a slap on the wrist for that, pretty sad if you ask me. | |

The review made it sound like almost soft core porn at a lot of points...is that actually the case? I'm not sure I'm even going to bother watching this anymore. It's the Motley story! I'm really not sure what you would be expecting other than them doing a bunch of drugs and banging a bunch of groupies? For my own part I don't know why I watched it. I hate the music and think that they are total dicks.

Well the review was basically just fact checking the script. Do you disagree with the results? A Netflix production says it all... They’re just one notch better than those VH1 movies.

| One of the 20 something girls at work watched this last night and said she liked it. But, she doesn't really follow the band or knew anything of them before she watched. She viewed it the way I see Star Wars- it's just a movie to entertain me- I don't pick apart all the minutiae. | |

| I haven’t even seen the movie yet, and I don’t think it will suck...
But at the same time, I’m not expecting anything spectacular, or even close to the actual book.

| The sex is very blatant and mostly used for comical intent. Not provocative in the least. But at times gross in a detached manner.
There's no need for this movie to be accurate. There's something that needs to be understood, the feel of this movie is an adult Saturday morning cartoon. It's just fucking goofy with nothing important or insightful to say. The band is presented as a two-dimensional caricature with few discernible traits. It's as shallow as Ozzy's poolside piss puddle. Gross scene, btw.
I mean, what would one expect? They hired the guy behind Jackass to helm this shit. No way was this meant to be high art.
Honestly, that's my biggest beef with The Dirt. It's too much like Jackass.

| A lot of film bios are either whitewashed or make up stuff. Just ask the real Patch Adams what he thinks of the Robin Williams movie. | |

| I actually wish it was historical accurate. Their real life shenanigans are good enough without the fake “jackass” influence. | |

In their VH1 "Behind the Music" episode, Vince himself admitted that he got off way too easy! Tommy did more jail time for slapping around Pam Anderson. I thought the movie was plenty entertaining for a Friday beer 'n pizza night with the wife. I wasn't expecting "Martin Scorsese Presents Motley Crue". It was directed by a dude from Jackass for Pete's sake. I like the band, the book and the movie. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | Yeah, that's kinda where I am at, "entertaining for a Friday beer 'n pizza night" and not expecting much. To be honest, I think the "Jackass" director and the nudity and f bombs hurt the film more than the anachronisms and historical inaccuracies.. It's too cartoonish and makes Mick the only sorta likeable guy while the others come off as completely reprehensible and beyond redemption. Just my opine. I don't see myself giving it a second chance.

I still need to finish the movie but this is exactly where I stand so far, right down to Mick. In fact, Mick is the best--and most human--thing about the movie.

| "The Dirt" is definitely a hit. Fueled by the movie hype, the book returned to the New York Times bestseller list this past week and the soundtrack album is in the top 10.
Makes me wonder if the Crue will go back on their "this is it, we will never tour again" promise they made when they "retired" a few years ago.

| Seriously, I wonder how this movie would've turned out had Scorsese helmed it rather than Jackass dude. I was just mentioning him over in the Gutterbox forum and it sprang to mind. And I realized, "holy shit, that's what this movie is trying very hard to be."
And now I want Martin Scorsese to direct the next decadent 80's metal biopic.
EDIT: wow, all this time I didn't know how to spell Scorsese

| Im not much of a fan, but I loved the movie, the movie made them tamer than they actually were from what i read.
The guy they casted for Ozzy was a good one, he looked exactly like him at that timeframe. I also liked the little cameo of Slash (doubt it was actually him but someone to portray him)
Id prob watch it again | |

| I finally watched it too. I was surprised by how tame it was compared to what some of the reviews were saying. I agree with most everyone here. The band members mostly come off as unlikable and depthless cartoon characters. Not sure I'd watch it again. I love Motley Crue's music but 3/4 of the band members have always put me off. | |
