"The Rift" (aka "Endless Descent," 1990)
When a Navy submarine mysteriously disappears, a sister ship is dispatched to find out what happened to it. Following the sub's S.O.S. signal, the crew eventually discovers a hidden underwater cavern full of mutant seaweed and giant, carnivorous something-or-others. You can probably figure out the rest. This low budget Spanish/American co-production (directed by Juan Piquer Simon of Pieces fame) was one of numerous "underwater" horror flicks that tried to capitalize on the release of James Cameron's The Abyss (see: Leviathan, Deep Star Six, Lords of the Deep, etc.). It's junk, but at least it's entertaining junk, thanks to some cool/cheap creature and gore effects and a cast full of familiar B-Movie regulars like Jack Scalia, Ray Wise and the great R. Lee Ermey.

Excision (2012)
Another film that was on a "Most Disturbing" list that was one of the few I hadn't already seen. I guess this is a horror movie but it's actually more like a teen angst melodrama. It involves a disturbed and delusional teenage girl who has psychosexual dreams about surgeries who goes to unusual lengths to help her sister with cystic fibrosis.
It's not bad and really not very gory at all and I don't know that it's all that disturbing either but at least it's an interesting character study. And it stars Traci Lords as the girl's mother. She's actually pretty good. Cameo by Malcolm McDowell too.

"The Ghost in the Invisible Bikini" (1966)
Before he can get into Heaven, a recently-deceased millionaire (Boris Karloff) must perform one good deed. He sends his foxy, ghostly assistant to his mansion to make sure his heirs receive their proper inheritance -- but the place is soon overrun by greedy lawyers, a gang of dim-witted bikers, a bus load of pool partying teens, and a gorilla (!), all searching for the old boy's loot. This cheap, cheesy, campy mash up of Sixties beach movies and haunted-house flicks features lots of pretty girls running around in bikinis, some absolutely terrible rock 'n roll songs, (one of which is sung by Nancy Sinatra) and the most shameless, mugging over-acting you've ever seen outside of a Three Stooges short. An entertainingly terrible movie with great eye candy.

Walking Tall (1973)
Joe Don Baker stars as the real life Tennessean former professional wrestler (!) who returns to his hone town only to find it's rife with corruption. Deciding to take on the corruption, he runs for and ends up winning the election for county sheriff, and takes on the corruption head on carrying a 4 ft long wooden stick. An entertaining film that spawned a few sequels and a remake that starred the Rock.

I haven't seen Walking Tall in literally decades but I remember it as being really violent in spots. Does it still seem that way or is it relatively tame by today's standards?

I'd say Walking Tall is a bit bloodier in spots but not overly so. Probably by today's standards it would get a PG-13 rating.

I've actually sat through this one twice in the past couple of years. I kinda have a thing for old school Nancy Sinatra.

Yep! That's why I watch so many of those 60s James Bond knockoff spy flicks too. The movies are mostly terrible but mama mia, those Sixties girls!
Exhibit A: Elke Sommer and Sylva Koscina in my fave Bond wanna-be, "Deadlier Than the Male" (1967)

This afternoon, I watched an episode of The Simpsons, "Krusty Gets Kancelled".
Very enjoyable episode, but there is a scene that is contradicted in a later episode, "Bart Sells His Soul".
In "Bart Sells His Soul", which aired in 1995, Dr. Hibbert is with his family in the car, as they debate what restaurant to go to. Dr. Hibbert sees Moe's, and decides to go inside. Dr. Hibbert said, "I thought this was a family restaurant", as he didn't realize it was a bar.
However, towards the end of "Krusty Gets Kancelled" (which aired in 1993), Red Hot Chili Peppers go to Moe's after Krusty's Komeback Special. They are seen in their underwear, and Moe tells them they can't go in the place dressed like that. Dr. Hibbert says, "Get with the times, Moe", as he and Chief Wiggum are both in their underwear, too.
In "Bart Sells His Soul", shouldn't Dr. Hibbert have realized that Moe's was a bar and not a restaurant, especially since he was there in a previous episode?
