Yeah, I didn't get mine either yet. I did feel like Testament once during the week and played the first half of Brotherhood of the Snake.

The general consensus so far is that this new album is very good. I definitely want a copy.

It is very good, though I'm not sure I like it more than Brotherhood of The Snake. Needs some more listens before I can make any statement of fact. Either way, a solid Testament album.

When I was listening to the older Testament albums, I realized how badly those need to be remastered. The Legacy needs it the most as I had to have my headphone volume all the way up to hear it well (in between the Testament albums I had other albums and when Legacy finished, the next album almost blew out my ear drum). The ones up to The Ritual were not much better and even that one and Low could use a remaster.

I don't think a remaster would help the Legacy. That's how the instruments were recorded, you can't polish it that much. You can compress and use a brickwall limiter to increase volume, but that takes away some of the range.

That sucks. It's a great album, but the production hurts it.

Remasters can be beneficial if they are done right. Not everyone “brick walls” the levels. A moderate boost of the volume and bass would make The Legacy sound better.

Listen to the Slayer remasters. They were enhanced without ruining the original recording.

So there is a way. I thought there might be. A while back I got a remaster of Queensryche-Empire and the sound was dramatically better than the original pressing I had.

There is a recent coloured vinyl print of the Legacy. Anyone have it and know what it sounds like?

Empire was a big budget production though. They probably captured the instruments neat and clean, so it makes sense you can work with them a bit more.

You’re both correct.

If I remember correctly, our old friend Detuned explained the difference between a re-mix and a re-master.

Re-mastering cleans up the sound and boosts the levels of the master tracks, with all the instrumentation and vocals together. If the original tracks were poorly recorded, remastering won't help much, aside from making things louder or brickwalled.

Re-mixing requires access to all the instruments and vocals as individual tracks which can then be properly mixed and balanced, making for an overall better sound. But it's much harder for bands to have access to all those tracks and more expensive.

I think that's right. If anyone knows differently, please feel free to elaborate.

I’d be fine with a remaster for The Legacy. It just needs a slight boost with the bass and volume levels. A re-mix would probably change the charm of the original recording.

This is really good shit. Catchy, but there's plenty of intricate little guitar things happening.

I'm enjoying this album as well. I've really enjoyed their last few, starting with Formation of Damnation. This new one is no exception. A+

Testament are one of the few old school bands that still got their chops and make quality albums.

Expecting my copy this week. But since we will be on lockdown again as of tonight until Monday morning, i doubt I will get it soon. Next week probably.

There are certainly layers in this release. I hear something new each time I listen to it.

I was shocked with the bad reviews it got on metal archives.

Haven't heard the entire album yet but the couple of samples i have checked so far are awesome.
