| I think that the thrash bands all went seriously downhill after 1990 so i thought it might be interesting to rank bands that have been around long enough to have a few ups and downs. Black Sabbath Deep Purple Judas Priest Scorpions Aerosmith I'll add mine later. Go!! | |

| Other than the 70's - Aerosmith does not even belong in the conversation. They have recorded the same album over and over since Pump | |

| My initial order is the same as the original post.
70s Black Sabbath Deep Purple Judas Priest Scorpions Aerosmith
80s Black Sabbath Judas Priest Deep Purple Scorpions Aerosmith
90s Deep Purple Black Sabbath Judas Priest Scorpions Aerosmith
The order stays the same from the 90s to the present.
Scorpions I stopped following at Love At First Sting, but overall I prefer them to Aerosmith so they get the #4 slot throughout. |

| Other than "Humanity Hour 1" I have been rather letdown by the Scorps since the mid to late 90's. And I haven't bought a new Aerosmith release since "Get A Grip" and that was like 20 something years ago. Imho, what a drop off in quality of these two compared to Priest, Purple, and Sabbath. I guess sometimes the line up changes and instability actually help revitalize the band. | |

It definitely helped Deep Purple, though they have had the same lineup now since 1995 with the only change being Jon Lord retiring and selecting Don Airey to take his place in 2003. |

| Back in the 1970's, I actually listened to all these bands.
In the 80's, Purple & Aerosmith were the first to go to the wayside. Then it was Sabbath, Scorpions, and Priest.
I didn't purchase any of them in the 90's. I did buy "Angel of Retribution" in what the mid-2000's and "13" a couple of years back.
