I was just listening to Perfectly Good Guitar and Slow Turning today.
Speaking of the song "Slow Turning" today a line from that song struck me as "off". "I always thought that my house was haunted because nobody said 'boo' to me." Huh? If nobody ever said 'Boo!' to you why would you think your house was haunted; that line makes no sense.
I normally don't pay much attention to lyrics but certain artists like Ginger Wildheart, Jethro Tull and John Hiatt normally have such a talent for lyrics that I DO pay attention and that line by Hiatt is a complete "whiff" in my book.

Can't drive through Tennessee without stopping at McKay's—a massive store that sells music, movies, books, and some toys—and buying a bunch of CDs and books...
If I ever get back to Tennessee I'm going to checkout two places: Obie's Pizza (STILL the best pizza I've ever had) and Great Escape (where I scored a TON of great used CDs when I lived there). Both are in downtown Nashville and I know Obie's still exists because they have a web site. Not sure if Great Escape still exists or what it looks like now all these years later after the digital age. But that place used to be like walking into the biggest CD flea market you've ever seen, with a TON of CD listening posts so you could just grab anything that looked remotely interesting and sample it until your curiosity was satisfied.
I used to drive 3 hours to Nashville after I moved to Jackson, TN, make a day of it and come back with about 10-20 CDs and some leftover pizza to freeze. Good times...
Nice! For the past four years or so I've made at least one trip through Tennessee. All for fishing tournaments; was just in Alabama for one. Next year I'll probably drive through twice. I'll try to see if that place is still around.

Hiatt's discography is an interesting listen. His early 80s material felt like chasing the trends. I guess after getting dropped by so many labels he found his sound and has stuck with it .

Took another trip to the second hand book/music store a few towns over today -- ever since my 13 year old son discovered that they also sell used video games, he wants to go there all the time, haha
He didn't find anything cool today, but I got these:
Black Sabbath - Master of Reality Black Sabbath -13 (2 CD w/3 bonus tracks) Death Angel - The Ultraviolence Led Zeppelin - BBC Sessions (2CD)
...and my Sabbath studio discography is now COMPLETE! (drops mic)

Discovered Damnation Angels by chance when I stopped at a record shop while traveling through Tennessee. Found their Valiant Fire album there for $0.84, and took a chance on it. So good!
Very symphonic stuff but still heavy.
Vintersea is another recent discovery; just a random click on YouTube. Nice mix of prog-metal and death/black metal. Female vocals. Really good stuff.

Based on that preview still I can definitely understand why you would "randomly" click on that video, but the music really isn't all that great. At least not to my liking. I'm not into black metal, and the black metal stuff I sort of used to be into back in the 90's, is not that.

Haha. That's not actually the first one I watched. In fact, the first one I watched, I wasn't all that impressed. I paid more attention to this video, which was the second one I watched.
Nothing groundbreaking here, of course, though I do like the proggy elements mixed with the black/death stuff. A bit different from the norm when it comes to female-fronted metal bands.

I think Nine Lives is a sadly underrated REO album. For my money it's their second best behind only Tuna Fish.

I'm really not very familiar with their catalog outside of the hits. I have six of their albums now, all purchased recently, but I've really enjoyed what I've heard so far. From what I've read, though, Building The Bridge may not be so good.
