| This is the best bit of news concerning this band I have read in the last year!!! Paul Bostaph will join the ranks alongside originating classic thrash legends Chuck Billy on vocals, Alex Skolnick on lead guitar, Eric Peterson on rhythm guitar and Greg Christian on bass.
Unfortunately Nick Barker will not be recording with TESTAMENT on this new album, due to Homeland Security and International Work Visa issues. Rather than delaying this long awaited return of TESTAMENT, the band has chosen to recruit Paul Bostaph, long time friend and member, to record on the much anticipated album, which is tentatively scheduled for a spring 2008 release via Nuclear Blast.

| I'm hope Skolnick can bring back some of that early thrash style, but somehow I think he may actually bring something totally new to the table. His lead work will be killer, but I wonder what sort of influence he'll have on this one given that he's been doing the jazz thing for a good while now. Testament with jazzy breakdowns? Practice what you PREACH! ( Tss ta ta tss ta ta tss...) |

Practice what you PREACH! (Tss ta ta tss ta ta tss...) Maybe a jazz influence in a Cynic kind of way.

| With the pattern of my spending so far, I will probably have the new album before I get back some of the old albums. That being the case I really hope they do bring back some of the old thrash sound. Either way I'm pretty sure it will not disapoint especially with most of the origional members and Bostaph at the helm. | |

| Paul is a much better drummer than Nick anyhow, so good for them. as for Alex "bringing back the early thrash style", i thought that their last album did that quite effectively. Alex wasn't involved in that one at all. _________________ | |

| It will be thrashy I am sure. Eric is the one that writes, not Alex. Alex just plays the solos. I'm just glad Nick is no longer involved. Don't care for his drumming at all. Paul Bostaph is a killer drummer and since he's been with Testament before, he knows what to bring to the table. Now I am looking fwd to this new album, whereas before I coulda cared less. | |

| Let's hope this line-up stays stable. Their drumming situation is a bit Spinal Tap-ish. | |

Sure, it was thrashy, but it had that groovy 90s thrash style. It had little connection with their early stuff, if you ask me. |

| Apparently the new album will be called The Formation of Damnation. If anything, it's got that 80s ring to it. |

Not to me. "Formation"??? Sounds like they ran out of words IMHO.

Sounds like a black metal band trying to sound deep, which isn't too surprising considering Peterson is into that stuff.

| Does the name have to sound 80s? The Gathering didn't, and we all know what a killer album that was. Ah well, I guess you and I just interpret words differently ;P _________________ | |

I'm the one that said it had an 80s ring to it, and I completely believe that. Not sure why it's still being discussed. Haha. It's only a damn album name. |
