Pre-Ritual or Post-Ritual?

Pre-Ritual for me. THE NEW ORDER is one of the best thrash albums ever.

Well, I can guarantee that most people will say pre-Ritual and that's fair enough, their stronger output is on that side. However, The Gathering deserves to be held up in as high a regard as classics like The New Order and Practice What You Preach. Incredible record.

The Gathering is one of the best Thrash records ever made....I will have to say Post-Ritual as I like there heavier side and the songwriting was just a tad better IMO...

pre-Ritual.

"The Legacy" is their only masterpiece IMHO although they had some other good albums and great tracks along the way. Souza's influence is felt on that one and Skolnick's leads were legendary.

I'd have to call it a 'push'. My absolute love for their PRE stuff (especially buying it all up as it came out and wrecking my neck) and my absolute love for their POST stuff (heavier, more intense, better drumming) balances each other out. To me, The New Order is one of the best METAL albums ever. But the the cds with Lombardo and Bostaph drumming just pummel me a little more.
But to both 'eras' I say: TESTAMENT 591800

THIS. Awesome stuff on both accounts, though I'd have to day I like "Souls of Black" better than "Practice What You Preach". Malpractice!!!

I'm partial to the pre-Ritual material, but I'm starting to warm up to the post material. I didn't care for Chuck's change in vocal style and I missed Alex's playing, but since listening to The Formation of Damnation about a billion times, I'm inclined to go back to the older discs.

That is indeed a tough one - Testament are one of my absolut favourite thrash bands, and I love all era's, and listen to pre-ritual and post-ritual equally. They're simply a freakin' fantastic band. Hail Testament! TESTAMENT 11840

I've run hot and cold with Testament over the years. Loved THE RITUAL, THE NEW ORDER and PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH, then they kinda lost me for a while till LOW. Then they lost me again till FORMATION OF DAMNATION. So make of that what you will.

I like it all with the exception of Demonic.Never could get into Chucks vocals on that one.If I had to pick a favorite era it would be pre-ritual.

Was going through some hard times there, and still kept going. Gotta give him cred for that.

I always liked "Demonic". Like a death metal version of Testament.

My least favorite is "The Ritual". It seems like they were going through the motions on that one. I still like it though.

I love Skolnick-era Testament. That includes the Ritual and the Formation of Damnation.

Favourites are probably the New Order and Practise What You Preach.
