Bought two Miller Genuine Draft from the import section for a party last Friday - The only reason I bought 'em, was so we had an even better excuse for chanting "IT'S MILLER TIME" when starting the party - It ended up with us (being the proud danes that we are) taking turns drinking the two beers while passing them around and chanting "IT'S MILLER TIME" - it took 11 Danish men to finish two 33cl Miller Beers - that's how awful they were sick

This story reminds me of the line from Monty Python's "Live at the Hollywood Bowl:"
"Drinking your American beer is like making love in a canoe. It's f*cking close to water!"

Having said that, this American prefers imports and some micro brews. There is an Ohio beer company called Great Lakes Brewing Company that has a signature beer called Dortmunder Gold that is very good. One of their seasonal beers, Christmas Ale, is something that my friends and I look forward to every year. Which reminds me. It was just released this week and I don't have any yet. I will have to remedy that soon! santa

American beer has always tasted funny to me, so it's Canadian and European for me:

Moosehead
Molson's
Heineken

I also like Rolling Rock 'cause it's smooth and cheap. drunk

You wanna go cheap? A 40oz. of Magnum around my area is two bucks. I get 2 of those and a pack of cigarettes out of the tip jar.

Beer! - Page 27 Alg_four_l

Not exactly a beer here, but sorta related: anyone here following all the whoop-de-doo/controversy over this stuff "Four Loko?" It's basically an alcoholic energy drink. 12% alcohol and the caffeine equivalent of two cups of coffee per can.

Several states are already trying to ban the sale of this stuff, calling it "Blackout in a Can"
http://www.nydailynews.com/lifestyle/2010/10/19/2010-10-19_four_loko_an_alcoholic_energy_drink_is_banned_at_a_new_jersey_college.html

I was in my local liquor store the other day and noticed they stocked this stuff. Curiosity almost made me buy one. Hell, if this stuff had existed back in my college days I'm sure my stupid friends and I probably would've tried it at least once. From the sound of it, Four Loko makes our old "blackout in a bottle" favorite, Crazy Horse Malt Liquor, look like Natural Light by comparison.

Eventually though, I decided that I'm too old and not nearly ghetto enough for such nonsense and went with my intended Pabst instead.

Alcoholic energydrinks have been around in europe for quite some time now, though not as strong - usually 4-7%. They taste quite good actually, though I still pretty much stick to beer.

lol Good call! I never understood the whole mixing alcohol with energy drinks. Just when you think you are going to pass out, you can't. How annoying would that be?

I read somewhere that drinking 1 fourloko is like drinking a six pack of beer plus 3-4 cups of coffee.

Went to a fancy restaurant yesterday for my wife's grandparent's anniversary dinner. Several Heinekens were consumed.

Back when I used to drink a lot my stupid friends would call me a beer snob because I would be having a Hieneken, Moosehead, Killian's Irish Red, or Guiness while they were drinking Natural Light. I couldn't even get them to try a decent brew. Morons

I love this time of year @ work... the knuckleheads in my office try to make up for all the hell they put me thru during the other 11 months of the year by givin' me beer for Christmas. So far today I've racked up a 5-liter "mini-keg" of Heineken, and a six pack of Sam Adams Winter Lager.

So our guests on Christmas can drink the Pabst Blue Ribbon, I'm a-keepin' the good stuff for myself! headbanger

has anyone tried arrogant bastard ale (or the more potent double bastard)? its great, and my favorite domestic beer. i highly recommend it, both for the purposes of general enjoyment and/or achieving a comfortable drunkenness.

Oh yeah, that's damn good stuff. I also love the rant on the back of the bottle about how their beer is "too good for you" and suggests that you "try one of those namby-pamby yellow beers" (or words to that effect) instead. Laughing very hard

So, I have had some different beers over the weekend. Most notable was Fosters' ale. It was okay, kind of light tasting for an ale. The other was an India Pale Ale out of Turlock, CA, called Hops of Wrath. It was good stuff!

yeah, fosters ale is pretty crappy in my opinion. their lager is mediocre (but definitely better); ill drink it from time to time.

Due to lack of refrigerator space during the holidays, I've been stashing my beer supply on the deck to keep it cold. Just my dumb luck that we'd get a 20-inch snowstorm and I'd have to go outside and dig it out:

Beer! - Page 27 164554_1660773913192_1052500800_1889900_2991574_n

On the other hand - it's natural refrigeration! I'm "going green!" Laughing

I finished the last bottle of Schlafly's Pumpkin Ale Christmas night. Now I have to wait until next fall to again enjoy the nectar of the gods.

I nearly puked today when I was visiting some family that I don't see all that often and they were drinking BUD LIGHT WITH CLAMATO juice in these 16 oz. cans. The aroma alone was gag-inducing. In the past, they have always been Miller High Life drinkers, which is bad enough, but this is ridiculous. sick

Were they just drinking that in the middle of the day?? That is the perfect hangover drink. Sounds gross I know, but it works! Nothing like a little hair of the dog.

No, it's what they drink all the time, morning, noon, and night. I can't hardly even think about it without hurling.
