Baton Rouge had a couple albums that imo should've got more notice but I think came out too late for the style they played.

Electric Angels!!! I loved that first album. Supposedly they recorded a second album that was shelved by Atlantic records.

What was their deal? Was is the same guys from Die Happy with just a different name? I have both Die Happy albums and while the first one was thrashier, the second one moved into a more bluesy groove oriented sound, like Red Sea from what I hear.
BTW, Fat Freddy, you'll be pleased. I ordered up a copy of Bad Biscut's American Dream.

Robyn "Kyle" Basauri (vox) and Greg Chaisson (bass) from D.H. formed Red Sea. The other two members were Chris Howell (of Fear Not) and Jeff Martin (ex-Badlands drummer). They only released one disc ("Blood" in 1994) which pretty much picked up exactly where Die Happy's Vol. II left off. In fact, I actually like Red Sea better than DH Vol. II.
...and excellent pickup on that Bad Biscut!

The same Jeff Martin from Racer X too. I'm playing Red Sea now on YouTube and it sounds pretty sweet.
The Bad Biscut album was super cheap on Amazon and I have some gift card cash so I thought I'd give it a shot. Unfortunately, it's the original version, not the remaster with bonus tracks. Oh well.

Damn The Machine was a band that put out only one album, but some people seemed to really like them.

James, what is your relationship to Emerald?
Have known Dave (guitar) & Larry (vocals) since the late 70's. Filled in for Kyle (drums) at a few gigs and on some demos before the "Armed For Battle" record. Roger Martin (Vengeance & Die Happy) was the bass player back then. I worked at the studio where the songs for California Metal Volume II were recorded. The drums on "Traitor" were programmed by me. Kyle played drums on the "Live to Die" track. There was a lot of tension/drama during those sessions with the Elefante brothers (Producers) trying to pilfer Larry away for a proposed touring ensemble of Mastedon. When that didn't pan out, Todd (Norris) & I finished up the final gigs Emerald did before disbanding. I joined Dave in Seventh Sign and did some gigs/demos with them before I moved to Northern California in 1990.

Anyone remember Crooked X? I liked their self-titled album and it's a shame they broke up as i thought they had lots of potential

Crooked X was decent though I think that sound was a little late for a new band in '09.

Kingston Wall was a great band with a ton of potential. They recorded three albums and seemed to be ready for greatness, when they suddenly broke up. Then about a year later, their lead singer/song writer, Petri Walli committed suicide. They were a three piece band that had some incredible talent, so who knows what might have been if Petri still lived.
I loved the first two best, the third one wasn't as good, but still pretty damn solid.

Kingston Wall are great! I've only got into them in the last year or so when Svart did vinyl reissues.
While we're on the suicide thing
Selim Lemouchi & His Enemies - I love that record but just as it started getting rave reviews all over the place Selim passed (I've heard suicide but I've also heard overdose)
and this is only a kind of
Beastmilk released one truly great album, then changed record labels, changed guitarist, changed their name (can't blame them, Beastmilk is terrible) but most significantly changed their musical style from great to not very good. They are still going under the name Grave Pleasures but I don't like them at all so I prefer to think of them as a different band.
Oh and now the permanent break up has been confirmed.
I still can't wrap my head around the fact that Purson are gone. I'm pretty sure that their two albums will be discovered by future hipsters and prog fans alike for the next thirty years. This was the song that started my insane love affair

No prob wurthless, they are definitely wurth checking out.
Damn, wish I knew they were released on vinyl, I would have snatched them up in a heartbeat. After I get moved and settled, maybe I'll hunt them down if they aren't too expensive. The cds were pretty pricey about five years ago when I bought them, so don't wanna go too crazy for the vinyls.
