| Yeah, those actions are just wrong. There's definitely plenty of idiocy to go around.
And you're right, if something like that was going to happen, it would have to be at a Walmart. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

If true, that is certainly "deplorable."

If anyone questions if that particular instance is true or not, there is plenty of photographic evidence of similar things on FB. One page culled together an album of 40 pics (FB pic capacity, I think) of pics and screenshots of texts, emails, hand written notes, tweets and vandalized cars and buildings. Tons of racial slurs, swastikas, mentions of our new president deporting this or that person, burn in hell for your sexuality, and on and on and on. Wonder why people are bummed about this election result?

| Protesting Trump in areas that voted for Clinton overwhelmingly whilst carrying Mexican flags and burning American flags seems counter-productive. Also, try getting your vote out in swing states, dummies. | |

| One thing that does bother me is the voting.
I don't know if it's changed, but she was leading in the popular vote as of last night, and of course he had won the electoral college and that's what we use, for some reason. Now, it took me a long time to really understand how the electoral college works and I just assumed voting didn't really matter. I was pretty apathetic to the whole system in my 20s, and did not vote until I was 30, in 2008, when, after Bush, I really started to understand the gravity of these things. And even though I still think it's an archaic system, I understand how the electoral college works and how it can choose a president that did not win the popular vote. In those instances, the popular vote is so close. That's where the people who say their vote doesn't count are so wrong.
So, I get how people get into apathy about the whole thing...especially if you don't particularly like either candidate. But I fail to believe that the 60% (or whatever the number is) of eligible voters who did not vote have absolutely zero preference between Trump and Clinton? Zero preference? At all?
And, I mean, who knows, if 100% of eligible voters did vote, Trump still could have won, and could have won the popular vote, and could've won by a large margin. I have no idea. But it coulda been the other way, too. But so many people just don't vote.
So f*cking frustrating to think about.

And though they're only words, it's disconcerting the number of tweets after Trump won that proclaimed they were going to be grabbing all the pussies the next day.
Yeah, I'm cool with some traffic being blocked for a couple days. We had all of this after Brexit and it doesn't last long, as soon as people realise that their saviour is just as much in the pocket of big business as every other politician and big business is reliant on mass immigration they will realise that nothing has really changed. I just think that after a couple of decades of being told to be a gender neutral, non sexist, non racist, eco friendly diversity champion or else, America has gone out and bought a big trans am (painted in the American flag) a pack of smokes and headed to the titty bar, while sticking two fingers up at the rest of the world. We all know that something is very wrong but neither of these two candidates were ever going to change things for the better

| Look at the bright side. Dave Mustaine will have plenty of inspiration for the next 4 years.
Heck, even the New Wave of Thrash Metal should have plenty of fodder. Think of all the great 80's thrash that was inspired by the threat of global annihilation and a madman in the White House.

| I am tired of hearing all the whining on news on TV, social media, etc. It's always someone bitching about something these days. A lot of entitled celebrities who have too much to talk about that doesn't matter. I don't even watch movies anymore and their opinion means little to me. Of course, the irony of this post is that I'm also whining! Even if Hillary won, I would've just said "F*ck that. Deal with it and move on, you big babies. What's done is done." Someone on another forum I frequent called Trump "that big orange thing" and I said, "Wow, the first orange president in office. How is that for representing people of color?" | |

Someone on another forum I frequent called Trump "that big orange thing" and I said, "Wow, the first orange president in office. How is that for representing people of color?" This will most likely be my last post in this thread because it's starting to turn into a crime against animals, as in beating a dead horse. I pretty much agree with you Muckie. I think that's what irritates me about these protests. What exactly are they protesting? SPECIFICALLY! The guy isn't even in office yet. I get it. They don't like the guy who was elected. Fine. He's said a lot of inflammatory (not to mention stupid) things. Check. Some loons who support him are doing/saying horrible things. OK, but that's not really under Trump's control. Protesting before Trump actually has the power to even DO anything just comes off like sour grapes whining. More importantly, protesting the president-ELECT before he's even tried doing anything just negates the power of a protest when and if he actually DOES try to do something they don't like. I think Hillary Clinton hit it on the head in her concession speech. - Quote :
- Donald Trump is going to be our president. We owe him an open mind and the chance to lead.
Yeah, that ain't happening. Oh, and before anyone thinks I actually voted for Trump, go back to the first page and you'll see I sat this one out. I'm a Libertarian and I absolutely abhorred both candidates so I said the hell with it. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| The fact that most of the protesters are teens to college age says it all...
It's become almost a "right of passage" for young liberals to get in the street and complain about anything they don't like. There was a lot of people that didn't like Obama getting elected either. But most people were mature enough to deal with it.

| I remember during the Bush/Kerry campaign, Ralph Nader was the third candidate on the ballot and of course, those usually are the ones with the least backing. But during that time, he was quoted as saying "The only vote that is wasted is a vote for someone you don't believe in." or something along those lines. He really just meant that if you don't like the mainstream candidates, it's better just to vote for someone else you like instead. Of course, one guy said "If you voted for Nader, you wasted your vote." One argument being the idea about choosing the lesser evil of the two candidates most likely to win being more formidable than a candidate with no funding or promotional advantage. | |
