Merry Christmas Pittsburgh! Thanks! Got him out of necessity but he's better than what we had to back up Vercelli. | |

| Getting ready to watch St. Louis try to salvage a split out of this series starting tonight. It's Locke vs. Garcia tonight and given the home/road splits of both pitchers this one should go in the Cardinals win column. But you never know; St. Louis is pretty beat up right now with both Brandon Moss and Jhonny Peralta out. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I've been watching MLB Network's broadcast of the Orioles @ Dodgers this afternoon. They're using the Dodgers feed. I didn't realize Vin Scully called these games by himself. You don't realize how much you need to hear someone with a different voice until you've listened to 12 innings of Vin Scully calling a game in a one-man booth. And a lot of Scully's mannerisms and things he says are right out of the 50s. I think he's wise to be hanging up the mic after this season. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Holy F'n S***!!!! Are you F'n kiddin' me????? So we hand division rival Pittsburgh a perfectly serviceable backup catcher who promptly turned around and kicked our asses last night and now this???? http://www.stltoday.com/sports/baseball/professional/cardinal-beat/peralta-to-sit-after-feeling-pain-in-thumb/article_68960808-8553-5868-9357-6d0874f2f688.html - Quote :
- Last week the Cardinals had Eric Fryer as their reserve catcher. Now he's in the opposite dugout with the Pirates after being designated for assignment upon Pena's activation. Fryer had two hits and three RBIs in Pittsburgh's 5-2 win on Tuesday.
"That's the game. A guy's out of options, he's out of options," Matheny said. "I think he was a good fit here, but obviously things worked out for him and he may have an ever better fit over there." Pena said he planned to do nothing for the next two weeks before having his knee re-examined to determine the next step. He was unsure whether he might need more time on the DL. "Right now I really can't tell because it's one of those processes I don't know if I'm going to stay here or go to Jupiter," Pena said. "I have to be careful because I don't want to embarrass myself and don't want to embarrass my team." Pena signed with the Cardinals for two years and $5 million as a free agent this past offseason.
I call "do-over". Somebody on the Cardinals medical staff needs to be fired. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| well that's just F'n great. Matt Carpenter just left the game with what looks like some kind of oblique injury or something. Can we just skip to the All Star break already? The Cardinals have amassed major injuries in the last several days. This is getting ridiculous. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

It looks like the Pirates are handling the Cubs and the Cards just tied the Brewers at 3-3 in the 8th. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Oh for crying out loud.
The Pirates beat the Cubs tonight and the Cardinals are tied with the Brewers 3-3 in the bottom of the 9th so STL must really want to win this game right???? Nope. Who do they bring in to start the inning? None other than Trevor "Blowsitall" who promptly walks the first batter he faces.
They need to trade this asshat now while they can still get a bag of baseballs for him. Jeez, he sucks.
EDIT: Well there's a surprise (not). Cards lose 4-3. Guess who the losing pitcher is? Yep, my old pal Trevor.
OK, half a bag of baseballs...oh, and a rosin bag. Anyone? Anyone? _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I see the Cubs beat Pittsburgh today. That's too bad. I was hoping STL would be 6 games out with the Pirates 5.5 games out. We need to put pressure on the Shlubs.
I also see Eric Fryer had another RBI for the Bucs. That's 5 already and he's been with them for about a week. And we got nothing for him. I'm still pissed about how that worked out. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Hated to see the Pirates lose that game. The Pirates have been playing much better baseball as of late and a sweep of the Cubs would have been sweet. Now I hope the All Star Break isn't a momentum killer. | |

| The All Star Game. Even though I want the NL to win, I am really pleased that Johnny "Kick Like A Girl" Cueto has given up 3 run and 2 homers in less than two innings. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Tonight I watched the Cardinals beat the Marlins.
What do you do when your bullpen keeps F'n up games? This:
Adam Wainwright - 9 IP, 3H, 0 runs
Final 5-0 Cardinals. First complete game shutout for Wainwright since 5/2014 _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Watched the Cardinals suffer their usual fate when facing a left-handed starter they've never seen before. They managed a whopping 3 hits off the guy and lost 6-3. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.
