| Perfect Symmetry marked Fates Warning's shift into pure progressive metal, leaving behind all of their power metal and fantasy themes. With Ray Alder in the fold, they were much closer to being comparable to Queensrÿche, another of the progressive metal giants. The album also signaled the entry of Warlord drummer Mark Zonder, whose technical style of playing allowed the band to explore new grounds. I'll always prefer the hard-hitting style of Steve Zimmerman, but his replacement was still a solid one. The songs themselves are arguably more commercially accessible, with "Through Different Eyes" being the poster child of that fact. Nonetheless, it's another solid release in the Fates Warning discography, and highly recommended to conventional fans. My vote is for "The Arena".

| Nothing Left to Say, with the Arena following closely behind. At this point it was fantastic album after fantastic album for them. I still don't know why they're not as well known as, say, Queensryche or Maiden. They deserve it. | |

| I received mine in the mail yesterday, ironically. Paid 6-7 dollars for it, and turns out it was the 3-disc special edition, including demos and a bonus DVD - lucky me!
I have to go with "Through Different Eyes", but track 6 also caught my attention while I was listening to the album on the way home.

I also got that version. Only wanted it for the demos and the bonus DVD. Don't like the digipak format at all, and there are no lyrics or any liner notes for that matter. To compensate, I bought the standard jewel case version. |

| OK, this album is far more accessible than the others.
"Through Different Eyes" I liked right away, so it got my vote. Second choice would be "The Arena."
