Subject: R.I.P. LEMMY - dead at 70 Mon Dec 28, 2015 7:42 pm
I wish I could call B.S. on this cuz Lord knows there have been a few hoaxes recently during his health scares, but this looks legit to me. Dammit. R.I.P. boss man.
MOTÖRHEAD mainman Lemmy died earlier today at the age of 70, it has been confirmed by his manager.
Lemmy dealt with some serious health issues recently, forcing the indulgent rock legend to scale back on alcohol and kick his cigarette habit. Though Lemmy had made some positive steps forward, he had been struggling with poor health in recent months, leading to MOTÖRHEAD's touring schedule being disrupted.
The rock icon recently claimed that he was doing just fine and was people to stop asking about his health.
He told Classic Rock: "I'm sick of the f*cking, 'Are you going to die?' line of questioning. It's getting really old, that question. I’m alright. I'm going out there and doing my best.
"I have good days and bad days but mostly I've been doing alright. The last tour of the States was very good."
Lemmy, who turned 70 years old on December 24, told Classic Rock he had no intention of retiring.
He said: "It's when you get to 60 when everything starts to go pear-shaped. Everyone thinks that becoming an older guy is easy, but you never consider it fully. It comes as quite a shock. But the thing is, I don't want to give in to it."
Lemmy previously said that he didn't expect to still be here at 30.

It's the real deal. SPIN, Ozzy, Anthrax, Eddie Trunk and numerous others have all posted about it on their official FB pages within the last five minutes.

Motorhead's official Facebook message:
There is no easy way to say this…our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made it’s way down the street, with his family. We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren’t words. We will say more in the coming days, but for now, please…play Motörhead loud, play Hawkwind loud, play Lemmy’s music LOUD. Have a drink or few. Share stories. Celebrate the LIFE this lovely, wonderful man celebrated so vibrantly himself. HE WOULD WANT EXACTLY THAT. I always thought Lemmy would be part of the old joke about being the last thing surviving on the planet after a nuclear holocaust. Lemmy, Keith Richards and roaches.

No!
I don't know what to say or think. It feels like an awful loss, but before you let this spoil your holidays, remember he got to live an incredible life (who ever thought he'd reach 70!). One amazing catalogue of music. So much respect.
There is a man whose life work is worthy of celebration!
Thank you, Lemmy!

After the last few years, this was pretty much a foregone conclusion. He played hard for just a little too long. Sometimes you can't come back from all the past damages done. Such a shame. =(

Damn, I just read this on another site. I guess this shouldn't come as a shock, but I was really hoping "we" might get a little bit more from Lemmy. Having said that, he gave it everything he had for all those years. I'm not surprised at his cancer diagnosis, especially with how frail he has looked the past few months.
R.I.P. Lemmy, you were truly an original!

Even though he had been ill for a while, this news still seemed so sudden to me. Glad I was able to see Motorhead last August.

He died from cancer, which he found out he had two days ago? Is that what I'm reading? Jesus!
A few years ago, one of my father's friends found out he had cancer. Doctors gave him 24 hours to live. He died six hours later. Can you f*cking imagine that? Holy crap.

Lemmy was one of the best - glad I finally got to see them live - They opened for Megadeth (2013?) - and there was excitement in the air - I cant even begin to imagine, the vibe from shows, in the early 80's. I bought Ace Of Spades lp - for it's photo - then looking at the song titles - and that was it - I sensed the loud rawness of life from them - more so - They were like the Ramones - power and very likable - quickly - I bought Lemmy's book, and felt he was being a true gentleman with the stories. He lived his lifestyle out - and everyone admired that - toughness - I'm sure when Phil passed away....that hit him.....and maybe helped him...

Not a shock as such but as I've said before, Motorhead had a profound affect on me as a kid and I idolized them. To lose Lemmy & Phil in such a short space of time is a big loss.
