| Haha, I'm glad to be an inspiration for an entire thread :)
Anyhow, I'll cite the sentence in question: "For me it is very solid mix between early Fates Warning, Omen, first New Eden, first Sacred Oath to name a few. Add to that the Robert E. Howard inspired lyrics and the awesome artwork and one will never been albe to get enough of it!!..."
As you can see I didnt directly say "this Cauldron Born album is 'solid'', but rather wanted to say it combines the best parts of the aforementioned bands. Does this makes the album solid as a whole? Perhaps, it all depends how one will interpret the word. In that line of thought English language could be tricky coz one word can have several meanings and this could be quite confusing, especially to non-native speakers (like me).

- Solid means that the album is a good listen from beginning to end, better than average and without a bunch of filler crap in between a few good songs. It has nothing to do with being "mediocre". I use the term all the time to describe an album that I enjoy listening to from beginning to end. The new Fueled by Fire is a solid thrash metal album. The new Iced Earth is not a solid album as it is uneven and features too much interlude and storyline crap.

I'm sorry if you take offense to this thread because I didn't mean it that way at all. The way you used "solid" on the other board just reminded me of so many other posters on the net and reviewers who describe every new true metal album as "solid". It really wasn't a response to your post per se, that is just what made me think of it. It just reminded me of other reviews I've read. I just prefer to call CAULDRON BORN's music "brilliant" rather than "solid". More accurate I think.

| A little off topic here. But I just wanted to chime in to say that threads like these are why I love this board so much. While we don't always agree with eachother here, we can still see the validation in the other members opinions, and posts. And rather than slammin' them for thinking "different", we just express our own thought on the subject! THANK YOU ALL AGAIN FOR MAKING THIS BOARD SO GREAT! _________________ | |

| To me "Solid" are the one's that don't strike me as bad; but don't really seem to stick with me afterwords. I've felt this way about a lot of recent power metal unless it's a little bit proggy or something. To be fair, these are probably albums that I would have loved before I got spoiled by so much great power metal in the last decade or so. | |
