Last night after watching KC win game 3 of the World Series, I watched Trick Or Treat.

Ash v Evil Dead - Very fun, tons of homage to the original. Raimi injects the pilot with a lot of his flourish, and Bruce is just as much goofy hilarity as ever. The splatter, interestingly enough, is very much in the comic book vein and rather (intentionally) unrealistic. My only complaint is the preview for this episode pretty much gave away all the money shots, so nothing came as a surprise. Also the humor works but is a bit spotty. There are never any laugh-out-loud moments. But if you're an ED fan like myself, you'll be smiling a'plenty. Looking forward to further episodes.
Pretty cool soundtrack too; the opening sequence is shot to Space Truckin'.

"Inside Metal: Pioneers of L.A. Hard Rock and Metal II"
2nd volume of what appears to be a very thorough documentary series (I have not seen part I) examines the years 1975-1981 and covers the rise of Van Halen, Quiet Riot and the Crue through the L.A. clubs and the ripple effect those bands had on the rest of the scene. Lots of interviews with well known names like Brian Slagel, Don Dokken, Joey Vera, Jack Russell, Lizzy Borden, and Lars Ulrich as well as also-rans like London, A La Carte, Snow, Greg Leon, and more. Some good stories are told but overall it's a little on the dry side. Still, I'd like to see more from this series.

The Walking Dead
The "origin" story of Morgan. Not a bad episode (and an excellent turn by guest star John Carroll Lynch) but a bit of a let down from what came before.

Same here. It was a well-written back story but did they really have to dedicate an hour and a half to it? Also this is pretty much what I thought already happened to Morgan so the lack of surprise made it even more dull.
The time expansion just makes me scratch my head. It's like they decided to fluff up a bottle story by an extra half hour. Could've done it in half the normal running time and dedicated the rest to present events.

"Pixels" (2015)
Alien invaders declare war on Earth in the form of characters from classic video games, so the President (Kevin James) gets his old gang of arcade-champion buddies (Adam Sandler, Josh Gad and Peter Dinklage) back together to help save the planet. We rented this very silly but entertaining blend of "Wreck it Ralph" and "Ghostbusters" for my 8 year old, who loved it, and it was fairly painless for us grown-ups as well. If you're an '80s kid you should get a kick out of it.

"Kingsman: The Secret Service" (2014)
A young British slacker becomes the latest candidate to join an ultra-secret spy organization and helps them battle supervillian Samuel L. Jackson, who plays a lisping billionaire who has some rather lethal ideas about how to end global warming. Â Ultra-violent and over the top, this is a very entertaining send up of 007 style spy thrillers rom the director of "Kick Ass."

More "Gotham" on In Demand.
Man, I love this show. I'm not a fan of anything Batman at all but something about this show just really appeals to me. I'm also surprised at how violent it is for a major network TV show. Severed heads, eyeball squishing, slashed throats, eyeball stabbing...all shown on screen. Not to mention a ton of blood squibs in every show

This and Hannibal are probably going to be my next binge choices if I ever get the time. I'm heavily attracted to nihilism in any art form, and from what I hear these two are a good representation (seen some of Hannibal, can confirm). The more depressing and violent a show is, the merrier. No shame here.
Interesting about the violence. 'Murica has really been going for the throat with viscera as of late--yet anything sexual is still merely a tease. Albeit more taboos of the latter are getting busted. But still, amazing how our demand for bloodshed is still met, even after mass shootings and the like.
But like I said, no shame here.

"Special When Lit: A Pinball Documentary" (2009)
This doc traces the rise and fall of coin operated pinball machines from the '30s to the present and profiles some of the "pros" and collectors who are dedicated to keeping pinball alive in a video-game world. I would've liked to see more about the game's history and less focus on some of the weirdo "fringe" pinball freaks (I have never seen so many 50 year old virgins in my life!) but overall it's an interesting trip through time.

American Horror Story
Last week's episode was awful and I thought that it might be the beginning of the end but it was back to being great this week. Lady Gaga manages to steal the show every time she is on screen.

I stopped watching American Horror Story because they were putting on extra long episodes and I have to get up too early to catch the whole show. I should get caught up on it on demand. I thought the show was rather interesting.

"Gremlins" (1984)
It's Christmas Eve in the picture-perfect little town of Kingston Falls, but the holiday is about to be crashed by an army of magical, homicidal little monsters in Joe Dante's classic creature comedy. I hadn't seen this one in a long time and it was tons of fun re-visiting it.

"Breeders" (1986)
An extraterrestrial is attacking women and taking them to his secret lair under NYC to incubate the next generation of his race. Fortunately a dorky cop and a doctor with HUGE '80s hair are on the case. This hilarious no-budget alien-rape nonsense features bad acting, cheap gore and loads of gratuitous nudity (unfortunately most of the gals who perform said nudity are nothin' to write home about). Entertaining for all the wrong reasons.

Breeders has always had my vote for ugliest B-movie ever made. The girls, the aliens, the photography, the locations--just grungy and skanky and bleh.

Dark Skies (2013) - Keri Russell and Josh Hamilton as a married couple with 2 children terrorized by aliens. Rather effective thriller, I thought.

I watched Interstellar & Inside Out yesterday. Both movies were fantastic. I'm gonna have to see Interstellar a few more times to really understand it in and out. And Inside Out pulled on my heartstrings a ton more than I had thought it would; I really loved it.

Oh yeah, it really was. How'bout the scene in the alien's "nest" where the girls were all writhing around in a pool of white gooey stuff? EWWWWW! SPACE BUKKAKE!!
According to IMDb, the director apparently did "Breeders" and a handful of other Z-Movies as a sidebar from his day job, which was making gay porn films. That explains a lot, actually.
