The comic was a viable continuation of the story; I loved it, it was so f*cked up and dark, just depressing. It offered a much better explanation than Prometheus for the derelict.
If memory serves, after "Alien 3" came out Dark Horse re-printed that story in a graphic novel, with Newt & Hicks' character names changed to reflect the change in continuity brought on by their "deaths" in Alien 3... I always thought that was kinda lame.

There are elements of a really great movie hidden throughout that film, but they get swallowed up by the massive chasms that all logic disappeared into. How could a group of scientists act so stupidly at every step of the film?
Beautiful film to look at...with the sound off while you play some music.

I enjoyed Prometheus on a visual level, one of the finest looking sci fi films I've seen. But it's a refrigerator movie. On second viewing, I realized that it actually has very little to say, and is padded greatly. It seems Lindelof was trying to go for an scientifically and philisophically stimulating script and--not unlike Lost--really just ended up with generic posits on man's origins. It was all really skin-deep and empty-headed, in the end. I could also nitpick here about canonical deviants between films, but I'll spare everyone .

Yes, it was poop. Poorly received, by myself as well.

Watched Bully with my wife. I'm usually hesitant about documentaries since they can be just as manipulative as a Nicholas Sparks movie, but this one got my blood boiling, especially when it came down to the total lack of recognition and representation in the matter. I'd hate to have my sons go through anything like this.

Honestly I feel like 'Bully' just encapsulates the more seedy underbelly of the world as a whole; and if you're anything that's 'outside', you'll never truly escape that truth and drive of many others to control and bring you down.

Pink Floyd - P*U*L*S*E
Revisiting this one, and there's such a dichotomy going on here. Here's my stream of consciousness.
Great stage. Amazing movie visuals. Awful frilly clothing and suits and oh God what is Mason doing in that getup? Way too many people on stage (CREDITS: DAVID GILMOUR, RICHARD WRIGHT, NICK MASON........with two additional guitarists, bassists, keyboardists, and drummer/percussion players). GILMOUR alone possesses anything the Floyd once showcased in the likes of 'Live At Pompeii', but good luck getting this ensemble to stretch out or jam. Good setlist, but they should have taken back 'Take It Back' and brought in something from 'Atom Heart Mother' or 'Animals'. Awesome rendition of 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond'. A lot of the video still looks like butt since they didn't record it on 35mm widescreen. Durga McBroom. Vrooooooooooooooooooom.

I thought of this as well; small rural town in the deep south with low-income families who can't just up and move or change schools, and of course the kids are special needs. Also one has to keep in mind how much the cameras can influence the subject. Still gut-wrenchingly sad though.

I remember when this came out and I bought it just because of the blinking light . Of course it was also a big deal because the mix at the time was superior to anything before it. I need to revisit the video. I recall the stage being marvelous as always.

How 'bout that Breaking Bad? Eh?
I know this reply is two days late, but I'm really enjoying Breaking Bad now that it's picking up the pace. (Although I'm still like three seasons behind, haha).

So I've been told; one of my friends has been pestering me to watch all of it in a binge. And I might just do it if I find the time.

Watching the Cards get blown out but the Cubs.
The Cubs!?!?!? I hate when St. Louis has to face a kid pitcher they've never seen before; this always happens.

It's a miracle that Ted works as well as it does. There was about a 5% chance that an idea like that could be turned into a successful film, everyone thought it was going to bomb before it was released. An R-rated comedy about a talking teddy bear? Surely not!
$50 million budget, $587 million at the box office.
It does get drawn out a little bit with the kidnapping and the aftermath of that, but overall the film works so well and Ted is so believable as a character that I can easily forgive it.

"Death Wish 3" (1985)
"Wildey's here!"
Charles Bronson, aka America's Oldest Bad-Ass, reprises his most famous role as vigilante Paul Kersey, who returns to New York City to visit a friend and ends up helping clean up a run down neighborhood ruled by a particularly vicious street gang.
The previous two "DW" flicks were grittier and at least tried to stay somewhat grounded in reality, but "3" starts out silly and just gets more & more cartoonish as it progresses, until the climactic 20+ minute orgy of random gunplay, explosions and street warfare vaults it over the top into the Utterly Ridiculous But Totally Awesome category.
Watch for Alex Winter, later of "Bill and Ted," as one of the many gang-bangers, Marina "Deanna Troi" Sirtis as a rape victim, and dig the jazzy score by Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page!!
An enjoyably cheesy blast of '80s action fun!!
