Speaking of Kiss, I have always quite enjoyed Animalize and could be my 2nd fave Kiss release of the '80s.

On the Kiss '81-'89 playlist I made 'Elder', 'Creatures' & 'Animalize' have 4 songs each...

listened to it today and i think the biggest issue is people forget about the 80s era Kiss material. Dont know why because it is quite good but people skip over it.

I enjoy ALL of the 80's KISS product (unmasked to the one with way too many songs on it) for one reason or another. Sure they chased trends (usually a half hour late) but when they fired on all 4, the band made a statement. They had the ability to play well and write catchy tunes. IMHDO

I listened to 'Lick It Up' last night and enjoyed it, still think its a kick ass rock n roll album

Lick It Up has elements of the previous album (Creatures) in tunes like "Exciter" and "Young And Wasted" and elements of later 80's KISS releases with "A Million To One". Also, it seems this is one of the better overall Gene contibutions for the decade. (subjective of course)
I saw KISS with Vincent in make up and it wasn't bad, but it wasn't right either. Also saw a show this tour before the implosion and Vincent overplayed to the hilt. Not only the solos for the older material, but his role within the band. Still, I'd a liked for him to keep being in the band. He is a great songwriter, player, and who knows how great the band could of been if this line up gelled instead of becoming a trainwreck.

I caught KISS with Vincent on the Lick It Up tour but don't really remember him overplaying on the solos. I would have loved to see him with them in makeup. That would have been cool.
And I agree, it would have been great if he could have stayed with them. Lots of potential lost there.

Yes, but then we may have never had the Vinnie Vincent Invasion.

Useless trivia: KISS released PSYCHO CIRCUS on this date fifteen years ago (1998).
Many fans weren't thrilled with the half-ass album and though we didn't quite know it yet the clock was already ticking on the "reunion" era.

Loved it from the get-go except for I Finally Found My Way. Terrible song.

I liked Psycho Circus and still do. It's not a solid album but has some good songs on it. The title track, Raise Your Glasses and Ace's Into the Void are all tracks I like quite a bit. No doubt the album could have been better. Wrong producer making bad choices about not having members play and not using tracks contributed by all the members. It could have been a much better record. In fact some of the songs they didn't use are better than some of the album tracks themselves.
"I Finally Found My Way" is terrible but I think it was Kiss or Bruce Fairbairn trying to cash in on the popularity of Aerosmith doing "Don't Want to Miss a Thing" which was a massive hit despite the fact that it too is an atrocity.

aka "Beth Part II: Electric Boogaloo"
Peter Criss has some not-so-nice things to say about that song in his autobiography. He hated it and only sang it for the sake of having an entire lead vocal to himself on the album.

I quite enjoy "Finally Found My Way" but can understand why others don't like it much.
Also like "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing"(even moreso now after it was used brilliantly in Saints Row IV)

Cool! I'm not much of a KISS fan, but that is the first album that I bought from them. One of my favorites(The Elder & Creatures Of The Night).
Wow, they are really having trouble with those harmonies! Paul with those high notes, too!

Cool to see. too bad the vocals aren't that great. This song would have sounded so much better in a live setting about 10 years ago.

Cool video. Paul sounds better than I thought he would. I liked the fist bump at the end of the song. Looks like they're having fun. Bucket list item - KISS Kruise (IV, I hope).
