I voted LA Guns. GnR made a great album but looking back, I don't see what the big deal was. I don't even KNOW you anymore! Welcome to the Jungle is right up there with Stairway to Heaven and You Shook Me All Night Long. So stinkin overplayed it's ridiculous. I am just fine never hearing that song again in my life.

| I think Appetite has held up strong despite over-play but these days I'm more likely to go for that LA Guns debut over any GnR. I'll also state that I feel if Use Your Illusion had been cut down to a single disc you're talking a on par follow up to Appetite. But much like Axl the two disc thing made the whole thing too bloated IMO. | |

I totally agree about Illusion. I've always said the problem with that release was too much filler spread over 2 discs. Whittle it down to the best of both discs and you'd have a decent album. But I still hate "November Rain". _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| L.A. Guns all the way! Phil is way better and cooler than axel. Personally I liked the guitar work on L.A. Guns better also. | |

I know the feeling. Whenever I hear "Come On Eileen" I want to track down the members of Dexy's Midnight Runners and strangle all of their banjo-pickin, fiddle playin, overalls 'n' sandal wearin' asses. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

IDK what you mean about weak. The first album is more raw and heavy compared to their other stuff.

| Not a big fan of either, but when those GNR songs play on the radio, I can't help but hum/sing along. | |

| To be honest, i was into LA Guns before GnR. But it wasn't until their second records that i even took notice of either. Even though i heard GnR on the radio all the time. But looking back after all these years, i think the songs from AFD were really well made and have held up well. Anyone can and will get sick of any album from any band if it is over played on the radio. Even some of the greatest classic rock songs of all time bug me when i hear them played too much.

| I voted for Appetite for Destruction. That album had an enormous impact on music. It became over saturated rather quickly and I'm pretty sick of it. Can't say I was big fan of either band, but they both had some good songs. | |

IDK what you mean about weak. The first album is more raw and heavy compared to their other stuff. Can't speak for Toho, but to me their debut just didn't have as strong as songs on it as it's follow ups. Nothing as memorable.

| I broke out LA Guns s/t debut this week to give it a fresh spin. It's a great album and has tons of nostalgic value for me, but there are a couple of songs and lyrics that sound slightly cheesy & dated in 2013, 'Sex Action' being a prime offender.
So despite being a rampant fan-boy, I couldn't in good conscience not vote for Appetite being the better overall album. Overplayed maybe, but still sounds great all these years later. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | No option for 21 Guns. Just kidding. Not that they are bad, but obviously they are no LAG or GNR.
The first L.A. Guns is a true sleaze classic, no question about it.
But Appetite...that is the record that made me a genuine music fan. I was 10, so it probably could have been any record that seemed taboo or dangerous to me in 1988, but it happened to be Appetite.
And I can still spin it. I have owned multiple cassette copies that wore thin, CD copies and a few copies on vinyl throughout the past 25 years. And I can still spin it all the way through. I still love the hits, too. Nothing about that record gets boring to me.
Throughout 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade, I drew the cover to AfD probably a thousand times. It was drawn on everything I owned that could be drawn on.
So yeah, put me down in the GNR- AfD column.
