For better or for worse, it did change the face of rock and roll.

G N R, by far, I am maybe sick of the album, but it was a game changer.

Appetite for Destruction, definitely a legend album.

But what about "Appetite" made it a classic? Because it was played a lot and spawned a slurry of copycat bands?

Well, duh!!

I honestly am not gonna go on any kinda Axl hatefest. I personally love the first L.A. Guns. I'd take Slash over Traci any day. But in the same breath, I way prefer Lewis' vocals over Axl's.

I do not know what made it a great record, but it IS a great record by all means!

I've just never seen it as a great record. There are about 3 good songs on it. The rest is blah...

I guess it's like "Star Trek" or "Lord of the Rings." You either "get it" or you don't.

I can take or leave all of the Guns' post-AFD stuff but that album still gets pretty regular spins from me all these years later.

Like someone wise said, stuff I like and stuff I don't. I really like Appetite.

Its easy to dismiss Guns n Roses in 2013 because of Axl's assclown antics, but in 1987, when the charts where ruled by Poison, Bon Jovi, and other destroyers of the Ozone layer, this sounded like a real rock n roll album, not an album put together by coke sniffing execs and songwriting doctors but put together instead by coke sniffing musicians.

It was pretty easy for me to dismiss them in 1987 as well.

I think it might actually be somewhat similar to the "Nerd Pheromone". Appetite just gives off a stench that repulses me. I am not being a drama-queen when I say that Sweet Child o Mine brings on a real and tangible inner rage that makes me want to break stuff. There must be albums out there that affect you cats in some fashion like that.
