New Megadeth in June of '13

This. I honestly thought the songs were spot on and somewhat focused compared to previous releases, but were completely ruined by the shoddy production. Based on this and Johnny Z's other ventures into mediocrity, I have little hope for the next album.

I don't understand why he hasn't gone back to Andy Sneap. My understanding was that he was happy with Sneap but chose the other guy as Sneap couldn't do the record when Mustaine wanted to record. Of course, he can record at home with Johnny Z whereas doing it with Andy Sneap means coming over to my neck of the woods.

Could be a budget thing?

Eh, the song's okay, I guess. They probably should have picked a different tune to post if they wanted to get people pumped for the album (hopefully that's not the strongest tune on it).

Seems that they didn't like all the negative feedback and pulled the song. Wimps.

Listened to the song "Super Collider" this morning and thought it was very average. Not thrashy at all. Kind of blase and lame, actually.

Well, as much as everyone complained about the mix to Thirteen, it was an Alan Parsons mastermix compared to GT's crapfest!

Boy that sucks! This makes Thirteen sound like Rust In Peace. Total garbage.

That snippet of Don't Turn Your Back does sound better than Super Collider. Hopefully the rest of the album is closer in style to Don't Turn Your Back.


And I like the comment at 10 seconds that the song sucks. Talk about giving a song a chance before making an informed opinion.

I think that both songs suck, boring cliched rubbish.

Need to hear the whole album before I make a decision, but the song Super Collider isn't grabbing me at first listen. Granted, its better than Geoff Tate's FU, but Risk was masterpiece compared to FU

Dave's voice continues to decline, the arrangement of this song makes that painfully evident.

My biggest question...is it THRASH.

The only real problem here is that Dave has largely forgotten how to write a catchy song. Even when he nails it musically, there isn't a whole lot that's great with the verses and choruses. I think the last great chorus they had was on Cryptic Writings.

I strongly disagree... Yeah there are duds on each album, but for the most part there is a ton of stuff on all the recent albums that's catchy as hell. The chorus to black swan haunts me for days after its done, I can't help but bang my head and yell along to the simple chant of gears of war, or sing along with back in the day... You know what to many catchy songs to list... Flitting back and forth from song to song to pull examples is giving my mind whiplash.
I simply disagree... These new songs however are quite disappointing, Dave's voice is getting worse and worse all the time.

Side note, I listened to UA today and forgot how killer burnt ice is. The finish to that song is something else. I always liked the Mustaine/Drover tandum. If the music on this album is anywhere near that cool I don't care if Dave's voice is absolutely horrible it'll rock.

Oh yeah, despite the somewhat lackluster title track, it's Megadeth. I'll get it soon as it's released.

Yep, for all the kickass metal Dave's provided for me he deserves my benefit of the doubt. I'll pick it up right out of the gate and most likely have a blast with it. I hope I like it, I probably will. I'm just not that amped based on what I've heard this far.
