here are some albums among my personal, no-one-else-would-have-this-same-list, must-haves.
I'd swap out File Under Easy Listening for Copper Blue for Sugar (truthfully I'd be more inclined to list Mould's solo records Workbook or Black Sheets Of Rain - but all good IMO).
I was very close to putting Bob Mould's District Line on my list, but didn't want to overdo it. I like Workbook and Black Sheets, but Mould's more recent solo albums have really blown me away (Modulate, Body Of Song, District Line, Life And Times). He is one of the few artists where I like his more recent work better than his earlier material.

I should check out some of those later Mould releases. I liked Body Of Song. I remember reading somewhere that he had become happy, mature, and content with his life which, while good for him, made me think damn no Black Sheets 2. I still would like to pick-up his book even though Husker Du drama always bored me.

I bought a copy of his book. He did a couple book readings (one with a concert) here in Austin, so I went and had it signed. I haven't read it yet, though. Yeah, his later material is not as heavy and angry as Black Sheets. You can listen to his solo albums on Spotify.

I also love the album he produced by Magnapop "Hot Boxing". Wish he had done more of it. I believe he did a Soul Asylum record too.

NICE on Purple Rain!
Few in my opinion:
Ned's Atomic Dustbin - God Fodder Milla - The Divine Comedy Bryan Adams - Cuts Like a Knife Bob Marley and the Wailers - Exodus Minor Threat - Complete Anthology [I could list 100's of "greatest hits" - but they only put out 2 albums...] Circle Jerks - Golden Shower of Hits Pump Up the Volume OST Jellyfish - Bellybutton [AND Spilt Milk for that matter..]
I could literally list another 100 easily.

Husker really is one of the Drama-Free stories, imo. They broke up - said they would never re-group for any price - and all three have stuck with the party line. Bob has become [even more] legendary, Grant still has a huge fanbase and performs once a month or so around here, and Greg used to SLAY Blackened Walleye [not sure if he is still cooking, but he had a place in my fav MN city for a long time and he loved talking smack about the "old days" when you came in].

I would say that half of my music collection is not metal. I post what I buy and listen to, and half of it is not even remotely metal-related. Too many to mention.
Ok, I broke. Some mentions:
Frank Zappa - Apostrophe Herbie Hancock - Headhunters Mogwai - Happy Songs For Happy People Mux Mool - Skulltaste Andrew Jackson Jihad - Can't Maintain
that's all I'm gonna say for now

Before he became Mr. "Everything I Do I Do For You" Adult Contemporary, I thought those early Bryan Adams albums were great. I even dug a song he did a few years back with one of the Spice Girls. Stuff was catchy and memorable.

Charlie Parker - The Complete Dial & Savoy Recordings are the best. The Complete Master Takes on Verve is another good set.

The Complete Dial & Savoy would be my personal pick. I'm a big fan of Jazz At Massey Hall too. But really any Bird is must have for me. Had a English teacher long ago who turned me onto Parker at a time where the last thing I ever thought I'd listen to would be jazz.

Never Mind is one of my all time favorite songs. Alex Chilton and Can't Hardly Wait get all the attention from that great album but Never Mind is the classic 'Mats to me.

I would add some more to my original list:
Kate Bush - Hounds of Love (1985)
An absolutely killer pop album.
Auktyon - Ptiza (1993)
Strange Russian folk/art rock that is really interesting, and very catchy.
Bill Withers - Just as I Am (1971)
An essential soul album, which contains one of my favorite songs of any genre "Ain't No Sunshine". The entire thing is fantastic, too.

Nice call on Bill Withers, his second album "Still Bill" and "Live At Carnegie Hall" are both essential as well.
Stephen Stills plays guitar on Just As I Am.
