| Very nice. Bang, Budgie, Leaf Hound, Night Sun, Hard Stuff, Poobah! (Youngstown Ohio's finest). But how could you leave off the Godz from Akron. That must have been about 1978. Also I'll bump a punk and nominate "Whatever Happened to Slade", which I believe was 1977. I think it rocks as hard as any Queen or Sweet. | |

| Ooops. You gotta find a place for Riot's "Rock City" there somewhere too. | |

| impressive list. some great albums mentioned. however you failed to mention Judas Priests Sad Wings Of Destiny & perhaps Rocka Rolla (although that wasn't so heavy). both need to be included in a "best of the 70's" list imho.
plus, Motorheads s/t, Bomber & especially On Parole. _________________ | |

| Thats interesting what you said about the 'Whatever Happened To Slade' album, it is definately their heaviest and my second favourite after Slayed! but it isn't quite as heavy as Sweet's Sweet Fanny Adams or Give Us A Wink although not far off. As for the Godz their great but i think if was to pick southern rocking biker metal it would be The Boyzz and their album Too Wild To Tame which came out in 1978 the same year as The Godz near classic S/T debut. | |

| Mc666, Judas Priest's Sad Wings Of Destiny made it to number 4 or 5 on my 1976 list which is on my previous topic '1976 - The Greatest Year in Hard Rock/History?'. Rocka Rolla was a solid album without being special and had stiff competition from 1974. As for Motorhead's earlier albums i like them without loving them, Overkill was in my opinion when they got the ball rolling. | |

| Wow! Great list. I'm sure mine would differ slightly, but I think we'd also have a lot in common.

| I tried to find some holes in your list, but it's pretty tight. Here are perhaps some alternates... 1970- Stray s/t 1971- Tucky Buzzard "Warm Slash" (very heavy in spots) 1972- Captain Beyond s/t 1973- Silverhead "16 & Savaged" 1974- Stonewall- "Stoner" 1975- Moxy- s/t (heavier than it gets credit for being IMO) 1976- Teaze- s/t (A little spirituality, rare for 1976)) 1977- Journey-Next (I love mk I Journey, side 2 is very heavy) 1978- The Godz- s/t (never heard the Boyzz, $100 on Ebay, no thanks) 1979-no additions, unless Tygers of Pan Tang had something out by then. Ideosyncratic acquired tastes.... Incredible Hog s/t 1973 Neil Merryweather "Kryptonite" 1975 (some very heavy songs) Hot Tuna-"Hopkorv"(not really metallic, but some serious power chords for 1976, I think it was '76) And (goodbye to my credibility) Paris s/t from 1973 (Bob Welch); It sounds pretty heavy, Zeppelinesque, and drug twisted to me; but everyone tells me that's just because I'm twisted. | |

| Some great stuff you listed SAHB healer. Heres a few more i could add: Thundertrain - Teenage Suicide (1977) Boston band that sounds like across between DMZ and the New York Dolls with a bit of the Dictators and Kiss thrown in. As heavy as say Aerosmith - Toys In The Attic. Truth And Janey - No Rest For The Wicked (1976) Iowa band with a sound like Thin Lizzy or Legs Diamond crossed with hard southern rock. Great band it's been reissued by Monster records. Marseille - Marseille (1979) Band from Liverpool, basically the same concept as early Def Leppard, taking influence from the mid 70's glam rock of Sweet and Slade and late 70's boogie metal of AC/DC and Status Quo and coming up with something that is somehow more akin to the top flight American stadium metal sound of Riot and Legs Diamond. As for the Boyzz - Too Wild To Tame from 1978 its available on ebay as cd or vinyl for around $10 to $20. You should get it if you like the Godz s/t | |

| I'm glad you mentioned Legs Diamond, I was gonna get on you for not listing them. Truth & Janey disappointed me when I heard them. Not as over rated as fellow legends Gracious, but close. I liked my homeboys Cain (also Monster re-issued) better. | |

| Yeah Legs Diamond are great other bands i'd put in what i would call late 70's American Stadium Metal would be Rex, Starz, Derringer and Diamond Reo. I've heard about Granicus and have heard not that many great things about them. Cain on the other hand is brilliant, 'A Pound Of Flesh' is fantastic. | |

| I see that the Boyzz "Too Wild to Tame" was reissued this year on CD. Slightly spendy but always under $20. I look forward to hearing it for the first time! | |
