Been meaning to check out Dust Bolt

Got two of my last three 2012 releases today and I'm going through all my other ones. I hope to have a list in a 2-3 weeks.

I got savage, sons of malice.

Very good album. Not sure it will be in my top 10 though

I have heard one track, The Price for Human Sins, from Pastore on a Nightmare Records sampler but they sound pretty good. Is the whole album like that track?

I'm still receiving CDs from 2012. Just received albums from InnerSiege, Loudness, Rizin, Pylon...

It was a good year for music for me.

Loudness and the new Obsession were disappointing to me. I guess I wanted both of those to blow me away and they didn't. I still liked them but hope they'll grow on me with listens.

And speaking of growers, the new Tyketto has come a long way for from the first listen.

I've actually given up on compiling only ten best for the year. Such a great year that there is no way for only ten choices. Hope next year can match it.

That one is from last years album of the same title. The new one is pretty much in the same vein. Priest, Vicious Rumors, Iced Earth, Accept, Primal Fear, Halford,...

Just from sampling my last 3 2012 releases (Anathema, Hess, and Eclipse) it may be difficult year to rank as they all promise to be fantastic.

I'm the same way, I also don't include tribute or cover albums.

Right now I have yet to figure out my #1 album. It's a toss up between:

Sabaton-Carolus Rex
Eclipse-Bleed And Scream

Unless Hess and Anathema impress me enough it will be a toss up. I'm going to give a few days, listen to Eclipse again and see if it impresses me as much as on the first listen (I thought Jimi Jamison would be a contender until second spin-still really enjoyed it and it may be in the top 5 but it wasn't as impressive as first spin.

I'm really enjoying the new Flotsam & Jetsam, but since it was released so late in Dec. 2012 and the physical CD isn't even out yet, I might move that to a 2013 release.

2012 was another great year in music for me. I bought 52 cds released in 2012 but once again there were more releases than i had the time or cash to get. Progressive rock/metal really made a strong showing in my list. I was a little disappointed at the glam/sleaze releases but when i looked back at 2011, most of the big names released albums during that year. I thought metal bands held their own quite well on my list as there are some real quality releases that came out in 2012. I wanted to give a big thanks to all those who posted new music here - I appreciate the time and breadth of the stuff you took time to share.

I was surprised that Clockwork Angels didn't make your list, I seem to remember you mentioned you liked the album.

I forgot Sabaton's "Carolus Rex" and Charm City Devils "Sins" from my list. Loved both albums but I think my top 5 still remain the same.
